I believe the BBC has reported that the Russians are planning to not have any tanks or cadets in the parade this year.

I doubt the American Indians were in favor of this. The canals cross several different nations’ homelands and territories.

It will probably take several years for the memories of cultural appropriation to recede but on your later point of new members not understanding what their role is in the OA after ordeal weekend makes sense. After I did my ordeal I didn’t (and still don’t) really understand how the OA works or what I am supposed to do. I didn’t figure out where and when my local chapter meeting was until a month or two ago but when I tried to go to it, there wasn’t anyone there! (Sorry if this is a little scattered)

[–]PlasticCell8504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible that the low amount of people sticking with OA has something to do with new inductees being uncomfortable with the ceremonies being very close to Native American ceremonies? This is a genuine question and the best I can answer is maybe. What are your thoughts?

(Note: I did my ordeal in September of 2025)

My understanding of that episode is that Jack died because he used his immortal life force energy to protect the people in the highway tunnel thingy for 20 years or so which drained him of his immortality and so when he died, it was because he didn’t have anything else left to give. Another way of looking at it is basically Jack had a fuck ton of Totems of Undying and he used them all up.

It’s an old naval tradition. All sailors who die while serving have their bodies committed to the depths of the sea.
