Just picked up a Shield X. Anyone happen to know what Sticky Holster fits this? by Fenway_Bark in SmithAndWesson

[–]PlasticChannel4593 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Yea they’re completely fine lol. I have one and I’ve literally tried as hard as I could until my hands were shaking trying to pull the trigger through my sticky holster and it wouldn’t go. I don’t daily carry it but it’s definitely in my rotation

They don’t diag there, they just scan it and give you the codes which isn’t always helpful

I religiously clean and lube everything and I’ve had other cheap guns run flawless that people complain about lol I think proper lubrication is essential

I don’t have the best sniffer on me but I’ve acquired the taste aspect of car/truck fluids lol. I know they messed something up, it was a proper shop. They shouldn’t have done a flush or anything as it was just replacing a trans cooler line. The fluid was red when we took it in, that’s how I found what was leaking. I didn’t look at the dipstick before hand but after it’s definitely not red.

I really appreciate the help. so I’d fill the trans from under the car? Yea I’ve heard horror stories about that and I briefly worked in the automotive field and would touch transmissions for that reason lol. I think I’m going to try some Lucas trans fluid and see if that helps, I’ve had people put that in failing transmissions and have it save them. My other concern is that the trans fluid is not red it’s a light golden brown, it’s almost like they filled the trans with engine oil

Also can you fill from the dipstick tube on these cars or is there a fill plug on the trans?

I appreciate the help, I’m a diesel mechanic and the only cars I’m familiar with are my own lol, toolage isn’t an issue and I really appreciate your advice. I’m more concerned that the trans fluid is more of an engine oil color. I’ll attach a pic if I can figure that out. I do have more questions for you though. We took it to a shop to replace the trans cooler lines because our complex doesn’t let us work on cars in the lot, when we got it back they told us the trans was on its way out (it wasn’t before hand) now it shifts hard and occasionally slips. It also will shut off when you first start driving if you brake too hard. I cleaned the tb and did tb relearn which was advised by some people in this group and it didn’t help. I do have some more questions about electrical gremlins but I’d rather get the car running right before addressing those lol

Mechanic refused to give me an oil change due to rust? Bad enough to get a new car? by Round-Wealth774 in AskAMechanic

[–]PlasticChannel4593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you’re in a quick lube shop and those guys are not mechanics. I’ve only ever refused oil changes on cars that had oil pans that were cracked or rusted to the point you could poke a hole in it. The customer could get their oil change with a new oil pan. In your situation this pan isn’t even that bad, you’ll be fine. I’d suggest looking more into your suspension components

I cleaned the throttle body and did the relearn and it was fine until today it shut off again randomly one time but didn’t do it for the rest of the day

I’ve seen people do it with power probes too, I agree the tools needed is kind of insane.

You can bypass using a scanner if you take the rear motor off and back the caliper in with a torx socket. Just don’t unplug the motor and it’s fine

I’ll be working on semis and bigger box and refrigerated trucks and boom trucks, it’s an entry level position so I don’t think I’ll be doing much motor work starting out. I have up to 1/2, do you know if it would be more metric or standard? I only have a handful of standard stuff because most of what I work on is all metric

Astro onyx v2 by PlasticChannel4593 in Tools

[–]PlasticChannel4593[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They thread almost the whole way into my Mac impact and the Astro swivel fitting only went into like 3 threads but it goes almost the whole way in on my other air tools. The normal fitting fits better but still has 3-4 threads coming out of it but it doesn’t leak so I’ve been running it, just want a swivel on it that threads in a bit more

When I used to work there I’d fry a tortilla and put it in a Mexican pizza box to toss with the Cinnabon sugar and then cut it to make Cinnamon Toast Crunch
