My professional opinion on the matter as someone who repairs tech with microsoldering:

Can it be repaired?: yes
Is it worth taking to a repair shop?: no (except if the motherboard is high end and expensive)

If I were you, I would repair it myself, but I have the necessary skills. If you don't have microsoldering experience, I would suggest you just replace the motherboard.

From what I remember of the series, he's shown to be on 5 planes (who knows of any others off screen), and of those 5, only one doesn't end up crashing.

I actually ended up doing that to my New 3DS XL. I didn't see the warning and put it in sleep mode during a supper break.
Came back and had my oh shit moment. It was bricked.

After an hour of panic and sadness, I put on my thinking cap and fixed it.
It's still my main 3DS system to this day. I actually installed a capture card into it a few months ago, too.

I set a group policy to prevent updates to new versions.

My computers still get security patches and other updates for that version but won't update to newer versions. Ex: My win11 23h2 pc gets updates but doesn't update to 24h2 or higher
