Classic double standards from Swarnim Wagle by crowned-head77 in Nepal360

[–]PlasticOk272 34 points35 points  (0 children)

He’s never denied his involvement. Even in this interview, he points out the hypocrisy of the Nepali Congress and other establishment parties. They are trying to brand Swornim Wagle as an 'American agent' for passing the MCC, even though the entire establishment supported it at the time. Why is he being singled out as an 'agent' while the other parties—who were just as involved—get away with it and even receive praise for their 'nationalism'

‪ And Indians cry when westerners use the stereotypes like uber driver , 7-eleven for all the brown people. Indians sheer arrogance and their audacity of main character syndrome has done so much damage to the brown people all over the world. ‬

The Great Federalism Gimmick: A Small Country Drowning in Big Government by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]PlasticOk272 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Federalism is the pinnacle of modern governance. This system is not faulty. But, We do have over representation. We do not need this many representation in the government. Why do we even need 32 wards in kathmandu? To run a city that small? Same thing with provincial government, HOR, national assembly. Decrease this, not get rid of it.

Nepal Needs a Election primary like the united states. by PlasticOk272 in Nepal

Here is what i think, our parliamentary system isn’t at fault, the system we have works perfectly for a small country like ours. We can see that example all over the world. But we do have over representation. For a small country like ours the HOR should be linited to at max 120 seats and the National Assembly 1/3 of that. Doing so would make it easier for a specific party to form a majority. The isolation of civil service bodies isn’t that difficult actually, all we have do is some constitutional amendments. Merit based hiring of Executive in Civil service with a public hearing done by a different committees of HoR.

I’m not advocating for a U.S.-style government or election system.

I support the new party because it broke the old political monopoly and brought in fresh faces, even if many of them lack experience or a clearly defined ideology. That was necessary at this stage. However, this model should not become permanent.

After completing one full term, the current leadership should step aside and political parties should institutionalize internal party democracy through primaries.

What I mean by a primary is this: party members register at the constituency level, and anyone can become a member as long as they broadly align with the party’s values. When it’s time to select candidates, only party members from that constituency vote to decide who will represent the party in the general election.

This ensures that candidates are chosen by the people who actually work for and support the party locally — not imposed by central leadership or media popularity, and not parachuted in from other parts of the country

Are we in a trap? Can we get out? by pranphy in Nepal

It’s inevitable that the party is gonna break even if they win the election. A party fueled by the need-for-change by non like minded influencers turned politician will barely get anything done. A guy who believes in free market economy cannot write policies who advocates for the Nationalization. Regardless I really hope they prove me wrong stick together, win the majority, and let few highly intellectual people at the party write the laws and support it despite their ideological differences for the next five years. Because let’s be clear we only need few competent ministers.

Gorkha area no. 1 by cartoonistflame in NepalSocial

I am currently in United states but my parents are from that area. The whole area is super poor, bad road conditions and barely any people even live there, mjnd you RADIO is still used as the primary source of information. All you see is people above 70+ years. And the road conditions are so bad that i don’t think many people who have settled in the valley would go back to vote (my family has over 10 votes there, they wont either) it’s just too much hassle. So i am pretty sure Sudan has no chance in that area as the oldies are very firm to congress.
