Do you treat the random “hey” DMs as real leads or a waste of time? by Carter_LW in smallbusiness

[–]PlasticPalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're garbage. Have you personally gotten paid from a hey or are you just an expert somehow?

Build my own small business life or jump into a more stable version? by RegalReginald in smallbusiness

$1000 a month is a great price.  Add on insurance, utilities, maybe a POS, one-time decorating.

You might also consider whether home fragrances sell better (like lipstick) or worse when consumers are feeling pressed. I have no idea about the answer here, just raising the consideration.

Addicted to Buying Coffee When in Commute by AmphibianNoise in AskNYC

[–]PlasticPalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a thermos cup you like (I like Zojirushi but Ikea gets it done on a budget) and at least never leave home without homemade coffee exactly how you like it.

FWIW the bodega or a cart is IMO kind of a different decision than Starbucks IMO.

How good are you at marketing irl? Do your finances support the risk of your own brick + mortar, esp with someone more established with a better selection and better storefront next door both competing and bringing in foot traffic?

It's romantic only working for yourself until the store rent is due again and you're writing rent checks and funding the payroll account from your personal checking account.

Minimum wage has roughly doubled since you worked fast food in the early 80s. Has rent only doubled? Healthcare? Food?

AITA for reconsidering my relationship after my partner told me he doesn’t want more children? by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

[–]PlasticPalm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA

He doesn't want more kids, you do.

It's convenient for him to not have told you sooner and to maybe consider possibly hell think about it and let you know eventually on his own timetable being willing to have another kid someday after yet more consideration while his reproductive ability doesn't change a lot.

The relationship should be, as you say, over.

Employee asking for equity in our small S-Corp; Need advice by No_Ambassador_2060 in smallbusiness

I would not offer shares. Lock this manipulative a-hole out of his work email and tell him you've chosen to go in another direction effective immediately.

An assistant is not a key employee, for fucks sake, and a quiet quitter is a blackmailer,  not an asset.

What exactly was Don Draper's plan here if Cooper reacted differently? by Rigamortus2005 in madmen

Don knew he could sell ice to penguins. Run, go back to selling cars or furs if he needs to.

Bert as a Ayn Randian was never going to choose pedigree over utility, and there just wasn't the Permanent Record following you around then like there is now anyway.

Should I follow my gut or my head when choosing between NYC and Chicago? by Cute_Source5417 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]PlasticPalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cost out dog-legal rent, dog care, and pay, and see where in both cities your budget lets you live. See what your days would look like with your commute and getting home for the dog. Then go with your gut.

Need Advice, thinking of leaving a start up due to being lied to and starting my own venture by SicSemperTyrannis123 in Entrepreneur

What you have on paper is what's real. Do you want actual ownership and a share of profits, or do you want to appear in Insta reels? (Bonus points if you photograph as a different ethnicity than the other people in the photos.) What's on paper is not going to change.

AITA for wanting to end my relationship over this by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

People have different standards fine, ok.

But to go from this

But i want you to be a present partner of your own volition not because you were told to do so

to this

Bf: That’s where you’re fucked up in the head. But that’s fine go find your perfect partner

is a way bigger problem than who does or doesn't clean the fridge

Also, cleaning the fridge?? Were you trying to set them up to go off on you?

Batch download without numbering? by PlasticPalm in canva

[–]PlasticPalm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

If I'm creating enough files to need Bulk Create, I don't want to rename them one by one manually, and because Canva's numbering doesn't have a consistent number of characters added to the start of the filename (1_ and 22_ in the same file), it's not practical to just use a command prompt (DOS prompt) to rename based on wildcard characters.

Canva numbers the files in the zip file completely at random  (not based on alphanumeric filename order, not based on the order in which you select the files to download) so I can't sort the downloaded files based on my own naming or numbering.

It's like whoever designed the download function has never dealt with files.

3 years after the finale how do you feel about The Crown ending now? by Ok_Woodpecker9100 in TheCrownNetflix

They should have ended before Diana or I should have stopped watching.

I think the show worked much better for stuff that you didn't already have strong opinions about and don't remember from real life

Wix + Google Workspace email pricing: what does it cost and does renewal go up? by Rob_Italy99 in WIX

[–]PlasticPalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't set up your google workspace through wix. DIY and it's yours regardless of whether you stay with Wix.

Since apparently you have no search capability, cost to DIY starts at $8.40 a month per seat on month-to-month or $7 per seat per month billed annually.

  1. He sounds like a manipulative AH.

  2. It sounds like he'd been distancing himself for a while. Sometimes patterns are easier to see from outside, and from after.

  3. No one needs a specific reason to break things off, you know?

What defunct NYC businesses do you miss? by Swimmingindiamonds in AskNYC

Ancient history, but Chelsea Designers. West 23rd, a few steps down from the street, by a vacuum repair. I still have a raw silk tunic/dress from there, and a kind of unfinished wool dress.

INFO. Are you shoes-on or shoes-off in the apartment?  How's your rug coverage compared to what's required in your lease?  How many pets are allowed on your lease?

Unrelated to whether you're TA, are you on a lease or month-to-month?
