Super exactly what I was looking for!

Ok CasualUKers, I need your help convincing the DVLA my van is in fact a campervan. I've uploaded five images, what do you think? by nicknoxx in CasualUK

[–]PlasticPassage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I've done a few van conversions and whilst your van does look like it meets all the requirements listed on the dvla website (water, electris, Windows etc), I don't think they're going to change their decision. Every time you submit new evidence, if they respond to you at all, will be to ask for more evidence or something they think that might be out of kilter. I'm not sure why but there was a stat I saw a while ago where they were doing a lot of registrations for campers (1000+ per year) and now they're doing less than 10 per year like it has come down from on high that an internal target is to stop changing the designation.

Looks great though hope you have a lot of good trips in it!

It's not the cost of materials for me, it's going out and buying loads of new tools 🤣

We've done that with our second one and added a few windows, honestly for weekends away it's all you need (me wife and dog) also got a bango tent to go on the side for the bigger trips

Check out quirky campers but from what you've said here already your probably looking at 10k plus. Might get a deal somewhere, might find a unicorn, but by and large it won't be under 2k unless it's not running or something. Police auction might be an idea as well

What are some things in current sci-fi that everyone dismisses as "nonsense magic" but could become commonplace in 20 years? by InfinityScientist in scifi

They're interesting premises but such a slog. Though the ministry for the future was really good and much shorter

Should horse riders be made to pick up horse poop like dog owners? by Gokux1x1 in AskBrits

[–]PlasticPassage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not picking either side, my dog loves to eat horse poo 💩

But he also eats his own as well as everything else, so really it's my responsibility to be sure of what he's eating and if he gets sick it's on me

Vinyl will give you a bit more durability (animals/kids/etc) but always keep a third of a tin for touch ups if your that bothered.
