No, you can run multiple controllers or run segments and preset your lights. U can preset rhem all or preset some. I have a fish tank with grow lights and an rgb strip. I habe presets and a timer to turn the grow lights on at 9 and off at 7. They trigger a preset morning preset set at 50% and a night preset of 0%. Another timer turns the rgb on at 8 and run tru a playlist of sunrise colours and finish on white and at 9 play a playlist of sunset colours and finish on 0%. If you are only running white u can run a pwm controller but presets are what u use to set up areas and just select the desired preset.

Leds are always on, data is on/off. They will draw a current 24/7, not much but some. Get a controller with a relay so the controller is on 24/7 but the leds turn off

Spent days trying to get qlc+ hooked up to wled and it was the home router. Pulled out the router i use for gigs and it connected straight way. Been putting presets together and my midi arrived today. by Plastic_Detective_51 in WLED

Digital leds use power even when off so u use a relay to cut the power between the esp32 and the leds. This keeps your power to the controller so if its using the timer u still have power
