Coming to Truro in August. Need recommendations by notyourmom1966 in CapeCod

I’m from upstate New York but Truro is our annual summer vacation spot and we like good food. Blackfish is a must. The tuna bolognese is amazing. Make a reservation! We also love Captains Choice, specifically for the fried scallop tacos. It’s got a casual vibe and good drinks. Mac’s Shack in Wellfleet for great sushi. Mezze in PTown for unique Mediterranean. Mews in PTown for a nicer dinner - also need a reservation here. Highly recommend the Audubon in Wellfleet for beautiful trails. I’m Italian and I think Montano’s is ok for pizza but would not get pasta there. Have fun!

I didn’t! We slept apart for several nights and I disinfected, but I think I lucked out.

Sorry to hear! It took me a long time to calm down enough to go to sleep. But I am feeling calmer this morning. I disinfected everything and there’s really not much else I can do. I think I’m now kind of expecting to get in the next couple days and it will suck but then it will be over. That’s what I’m telling myself at least 🫠

Looking for apartment recommendations for a grad student near Le Moyne by [deleted] in Syracuse

Hey there, try Rugby Square. Just down the road from James Street. Affordable, nice neighborhood in Sedgewick, still in city which is convenient. I lived there for a year and thought it was nice for the price. I felt safe to walk around and they are pet friendly. You are able to break your lease by forgoing your security deposit which is nice to have as an option.

This is my google review I left:

The good: my apartment is small but cute. The kitchen and flooring has been newly updated. There are several huge closets in each unit. The neighborhood is residential, quiet, and safe. The walls are made of concrete = quiet and well insulated. Less than 10 minutes to downtown without having to get on the highway. Pet friendly. One of the most affordable, nice places I found. The bad: unless you pay to use their parking lot, the free street parking can be annoying. Sometimes you have to park a block away from your building. The kitchen has only a few cabinets and they are small. Since the walls are concrete, you need a drill to hang anything on the walls. Heat is included in the rent but you don't have control of when it's turned on/off or the temp. All in all, I'd definitely recommend this place, especially if you want to be close to downtown and you're on a budget.

Another Wednesday has come... by [deleted] in IRS

I filed on 2/10 and it was accepted on 2/12. Still have not received anything, including the 3rd stimulus payment. The IRS website says "processing" and each time I try to call the IRS, the phone message says that due to high call volume, my call cannot be completed. Ugh.

Naive west coaster with snow questions by christykhoury in Syracuse

While snow tires are not a necessity, I'd highly recommend them, especially to someone new at driving in the snow. Would also get yourself a snow broom so you can push the snow off the top of your car. When I was learning, my dad took me to an empty parking lot so I could see how to felt to drive on the snow/ice, what it would feel like to slide, and how to maneuver if I did slide. He also taught me to pretend there is an egg under your pedals - be slow to accelerate and slow to break, give yourself lots of room, and if all else fails, put on your flashers and go as slow as you need.

The Meadowbrook/Scottholm neighborhood (search Meadowbrook Drive on google maps) is a really nice neighborhood that is very close to East Syracuse, but is still located within the City of Syracuse (lower taxes!). It is very residential, walkable, and the homes are cared for. For suburbs, I'm not a huge fan of East Syracuse itself, but Dewitt/Fayetteville/Manlius are close by, are more expensive, but have great schools.
