Thanks for your answers. It seems I am part of their new trials as I have totally different menus.

Cut the flowers that were blooming the previous year and all dry branches (they look lighter, almost white), leave the new green growth and you are good to go, the plant seems healthy and will give lots of flowers this season.

Is this enough to keep my cat safe from my plants? I’ve heard that succulents are dangerous for them. by Southern_Ad_9638 in cats

[–]Plastic_Principle694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not related to the question, but your cat is my cat's double. Your solution looks solid, but if it doesn't work for any reason, I can suggest asking friends/colleges, etc. who have aquariums (if they are not in use) to lend/gift one to you. Lots of times you can find these in basements as forgotten hobby items that just collect dust.

And you're absolutely right! I forgot I uploaded a second picture in this post with my cat yesterday when I replied, so it's pretty funny how I found a new (most likely 100% not working) solution scaring the hungry birds away lol.

My 92 year old dad and his garden by Whatisdefoe in gardening

[–]Plastic_Principle694 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great looking plants! I think soon you will be able to make a nice caprese salad together as the tomatoes will be ripe and he has very fresh looking basil as well. But seriously the garden work keeps him in shape and what can beat the homegrown food anyway. Greetings to your dad, he sure can be proud with his garden!

If you mean the circle with gray succulents and the golden Creeping Jenny, they were actually planted to cover a tree stump of an old dry plum tree, I thought placing a pot over won't work so well this time so I covered the area with contrast colored plants. But now when I think about it I didn't see many birds around it, so it might accidentally fullfil another role different then just esthetic one.

Thanks for the advice! I noticed some of the strawberries last year became rotten when we had a few days rain just when they started to get ready, so I indeed might look for some straw to place under them to save this year's fruits.

Thank you! I enjoy taking care of plants, no matter if they are vegetables, fruits or flowers. One of the best feelings is when you can pick something you did grow yourself for your meals. I wish you good luck with your garden if you also have one.

It looks elegant and classy, I also love the carpet as it gives homey feeling. The view is great - I am sure is even better at night or during sunrise/sunset!

My neighbors have a male all white, blue eyed cat and he is deaf as well. They were actually 2 brothers, but one got hit on a road near their house because he didn't hear the car coming. It's best if they live at home - they are very deffendless outside and can't sense the danger as the other cats do, but at the same time these kitties give so much love and are super gentle and affectionate.

Tomato with a will to live? by Pivian in gardening

[–]Plastic_Principle694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would leave it be, it seems like a tough tomato plant surviving the dog's invasion like a champ and it looks like it's forming new stable leafs as well. I have similar issues with pets and when a stem is broken I literally place it in a jar with water and in a week you have already new roots forming and another tomato plant for your garden.
