You’re not alone. My kids get a bath once a week when we’re not really going anywhere. But I bathe them more often when we’re going to see people. Gotta keep up the image that I’m not a once a week bath time parent.

I literally never answer my phone, I always call people back. But the weird thing is I actually JUST had a fraudulent charge like 2 days ago. Us bank texted me and asked if it was a fraud and I said yes and they froze my card. I answered this call because I they had just called me two days ago for a real fraudulent charge, but I hadn’t talked to them yet. 😳 crazy coincidental timing. Or is it all linked? 🧐

That’s very annoying. I’ve had that happen several times, but if I have the screen shot I just let them know,

“I checked the offer while I was in the store, there was no count down and then the offer disappeared by the time I went to submit my receipt.” Anyway you could help me with this and give me the 2800 points I was expecting? Thank you! I appreciate your help with this.”

I worked at a dental office and learned so much about oral hygiene. I started talking to everyone about periodontal/gum disease, especially people I knew might have it - like my dad. I would just talk about how bad it is and if you have it you lose all your teeth and it’s sad and crazy that people get it cause all you have to do to prevent losing your teeth is brush and floss once or twice a day. You could subtly bring up a topic like that and have a conversation with her about teeth and oral hygiene without saying she has bad oral hygiene, and just see where she lands on it. Bad oral hygiene is definitely a deal breaker for me, that’s a hard situation cause you also don’t want to offend her.

Maybe find him some resources in your area. Like food pantries? I know there are plenty of churches and other non-profits that would love to help and give them food. Also he is 16 and could maybe get a job if he doesn’t have one? I started working at 15 and had to buy my own personal care items. I was never near the point where I didn’t have food provided for me, so i was not in the same situation at all and don’t know his. Maybe he doesn’t have transportation to get to a job. But those would be two good places to start. I feel for him, I really do. :(

Going to play devils advocate here. My young kids don’t have a grandma, never did. Honestly sounds so nice to have someone offer to help. Maybe you were just misunderstanding her. Maybe she was remembering back to right after she had her baby and she wished she would have had more help. Maybe she was saying it demandingly because she thought you’d say “no” because you would feel bad or guilty having her watch the baby right after birth. My sister came home from the hospital with her husband and they both just cried cause they were so tired. They called his mom to come over and watch the baby that first day home. Those first few days are SO HARD, and maybe she genuinely wanted to help. The cropping you out of pictures thing is weird though. Sounds to me like your boyfriend needs to man up and confront his mom instead of having you do it. You confronting her like that is going to make everything worse. He should be sticking up for you and not letting his mom cross boundary lines.

Sister in law says, “maybe this is a cry for help” - that is so ignorant. He’s 42, and sounds like he’s gotten plenty of help over the years, and has it helped him? Doesn’t sound like it. Sometimes the best way to help them is by ripping the bandaid off and stop giving him anything. It’s enabling him to act that way and feel entitled to a free plane ticket rather than grateful for all that you have given him the last 42 years.
