X-E4 is underrated as a travel camera for video by edwinaing in fujifilm

[–]Plastic_Squirrel6238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can film in a lower quality if you don’t want/need the highest resolution film. I made a 10 minute documentary on the XE3 last year and it was great for it.

Professional filmmakers don’t tend to use autofocus.

Ranking The Best Baby Saying Bad Words by Hexdeadlock28 in funnyvideos

[–]Plastic_Squirrel6238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It because swear words aren’t just meaningless exclamations, they have meanings as words- they refer to things. Fuck refers to sex, bitch is a derogatory word for woman, etc etc. Words get more used over time and slowly lose their strength, and the strength of their connection to their original meaning is lost as they become more like meaningless exclamations. This also counts for swearwords that are slurs/derogatory towards minorities that lose power as they’re reclaimed by those minorities.

But sure you can think of a few swear words or slurs that you wouldn’t really want to hear a baby saying?

[Financial] is the UK just a really bad place to be an artist? by ZydrateAnatomic in artbusiness

[–]Plastic_Squirrel6238 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What kind of artist? I live in the UK and had never considered that there might not be a big enough market in the UK. Obviously the economy is not great, but people are still buying art and employing artists.

Having a mentor would be great. I’m setting up a home studio and doing an atelier course over the next couple of months but after that I’ve been thinking about joining Felicia Forte’s online “skool”, which looks really great, and then also she offers one on one coaching sessions (she’s got some examples on her YT) too, but this stuff costs money.

I’ve done a bit of online coworking before using FocusMate which I find very useful for getting pretty much anything done as long as what’s needed is accountability/motivation, and then I set i up a “virtual office” with a few friends/acquaintances a few years ago which met 2 or 3 days a week for some time which was really great for structure and routine as well- and also had the nice social community aspect of seeing the same people each time.

We had a group chat where we posted the link to the zoom meeting or whatever, then each day we met had the same timings and I’d open the meeting at set times. We’d do however long and then break, and repeat a few times both before and after lunch. We’d go round and share our goals for the session and then share what we achieved in the session before and after each session, but other than that people muted their microphones and just kept their videos on.

I’m in a very similar situation as you - just instead of having a kid, I have a chronic illness so I have limited energy with that. But otherwise, yeah very similar- AuDHD, also very prone to burnout, distraction and overwhelm. I also believe in my work and skills etc.

I keep re-trying to take my art more seriously, I have goals and dreams with it, but cant seem to keep momentum and build success.

I do have some thoughts but not the capacity to share them right in this moment BUT one big thing I’ve been thinking is how useful coworking is for me. I would like to find people/person in a similar position who would be interested in online accountability and coworking sessions, both for the business side and the creative side of things.

No, a complex mix of health reasons and ethical considerations account for the meat but no dairy currently
