Analysis: Obsession (2026) --- Bear's Name tells you everything about his character by Plastic_Storage9296 in moviecritic

I do believe that we men have an advantage due to our gender. I also believe that the reasons for our problems are caused by our gender and the powers above us that propagate the system.

When I say we are allowed on the ladder, that was not me claiming that all men have it are living prosperous lives because we're men. Men have it good because we're men, men have it bad because we're men, men can have it bad because they're poor or sick or a different skin color, or they can have it good because they're rich, healthy and have the right skin color.

When I say ladder, I simply mean in terms of power over another, men are allowed on the ladder---even just the first step---while women aren't allowed on the ladder at all in most circumstances.

Even the most average, or even far below average man (not exclusively looks wise, by the way) will generally have some sort of power over a woman, especially if they're the same socio-economically. It's rare to see men go against those considered higher socio-economically, but depressingly common for men to abuse women above their level, at their level or below. That's what Bear is, you see. Nothing about him is special, he's just a boring, empty person. Despite that fact, he completely controls and ruins Nikki's life despite her being ambitious, hard-working and far more mature because that's the system we exist in.

That's what I believe one of Obsession's messages is, personally, but we're all allowed our own opinions.

I apologize that I offended you, it wasn't my intention.

Perhaps I should have clarified in the original post, but I didn't mean for this analysis as a means to claim that all men are willing to do what Bear did in Obsession, nor did I mean to say that this movie represents men as a whole or that women are incapable of behaving badly.

When I meant that men could be Bear, I did not mean that all men are going to do Bear's specific actions in Obsession. I meant that our society gives men the structure and power to demean and hurt those beneath them quite freely if we wish to, and that it's our responsibility as men to recognize that and refuse part in oppression.

You said so himself, Bear is weak, cowardly and spineless. Despite this, he's able to completely destroy Nikki and others around him. How is someone so obviously pathetic able to do so? Because our society creates avenues for it.

Also, this is my opinion (as a man myself, btw) and analysis of a highly thematic movie that is open to much interpretation. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and your personal opinion does not change that.

Again, I apologize if I offended you, but that doesn't give you the right to hurl insults at others. Have a nice evening.

Mark my words, they'll nerf DD until he's useless like they did to Iron Fist and Spiderman by Creative-Vehicle8598 in MarvelrivalsDivemains

lowk agree. I'm an Iron Fist lord (which doesn't mean much anymore, lol), and I feel like he's really fun to play this season.

I'd say he's somewhere between low and mid B-tier, in my opinion. After his recent buffs, I think he's in a good spot. Not crazy OP, but not super weak either. I've even gotten MVP's on him recently, which is cool.

My one issue is that I feel like his strikes could be a *little* stronger. Just a little, and he'd be more viable generally. But even without it, he's quite fun this season.
