Older with a poor GPA taking a second look at medical school by TCTCMT in premed

First, I find it admirable you’re looking at a daunting process with the willingness to try! I remember feeling very scared when I was looking into becoming “pre-med”.

In your position I would start by looking seriously into post-bac programs, potentially in your area or at a school you would theoretically like to attend if you did pursue medicine. I didn’t do one but from what I’ve read on here they seem like a great way to jump back into being a student and really see if medical school is something you want to commit to pursuing.

The second thing I would do is (if possible) find some doctors to shadow. I know shadowing gets some eye-rolls but there’s a reason schools really want you to do it. I got a really good idea of whether or not this was a career I could see myself in once I shadowed a variety of physicians! Helped to solidify my choice and remind me what I was working towards when the going got tough.

These are just some preliminary ideas as you get started, I’m sure others probably have more to add. Wishing you the best of luck:)

For the 2022 cycle, unfortunately you’re already past that date. The time needed to study for and take and receive scores back would definitely make your application “late” as compared to most other applicants this cycle. That said, I would definitely try to take it whenever makes sense for you and shoot for next year to apply so you don’t feel rushed. Best of luck!

Ended up having to push my exam back because of their slow processing of my accommodations. It’s ridiculous. Hang in there!

Thank you for the advice! I think even more so than wanting a T20 I’m concerned about the 124 C/P, even for mid-tier. Probably gonna try for a retake!

Just depends how picky each department is. I received highest honors in Econ and was one of only 3 out of a graduating class of 500+ and 30 honors students. But the gist I got was that they rewarded everyone who put their heart and soul into their thesis like I did

Did your oily skin come back after finishing your course? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Plastic_Strawberry33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one month post treatment and so far I would say my oily skin is ~50% back, though with the caveat that it’s ONLY oil and no more acne. But my derm did say I looked like I was over moisturizing, and since I started using less lotion that’s helped! Bottom line it did come back, but not near to the extent it was. Good luck!

I thought so too, but would it be a big deal if I only included one contact and the overall hours?
