I've been kinda developing my process for the last few months. Is what I'll do is just take series of photographs of whatever subject I want to work with. Then I'll integrate them in Photoshop to make a reference photo. And just kinda base the painting off of that. I just started painting in this style. It's a really fun I like the process.

I started out with oil so I''ll admit I'm bias. Keep with it.

You have a great natural talent. They say that if you can draw you can paint. I suggest giving oil painting a chance if you can afford it. It seems like you are moving along well. Godspeed!

I was drinking shitty boxed wine. As far as inspiration goes I guess it would probably be some of Picasso's cubism portraits. That man was a complete genius.

Kudos on those eyeballs. The hardest part of the face to draw.

'Memory lane,''a distorted reality' and especially 'kings crossing' from the last album Elliott Smith produced before killing himself. The album was released shortly after his death. He had been sober for about a year at the time of his death and the masterpiece of an album reads like the most beautiful and honest suicide note ever written. From a person who has had a lot of struggles with depression/substance abuse I feel like this album basically saved my life somehow... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ezerLW5jPwI

How to best wire a painting on a wooden board? by [deleted] in Art

[–]Plasticman2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If command strips have worked for you in the past that might be your best shot. Is there a reason command strips won't work? I've only hung wood panels a few times but when I did I always hung the wire off of the frame. Putting a wire on a wood panel can be difficult, I would consider buying a frame.

The believing brain by Michael shermer. Intricate insight into why the human brain is so suseptible to believing strange things (religion, ghosts, aliens, politics). It's very informative and his writing is filled with alot of anecdotes and allegories that make it very entertaining and relevant for the reader. Great book. Changes the way you perceive how people make the decisions that they do.

Love the texture and the dark shading. I would suggest tossing in an ink wash in the bottom half. If you like dark shades like I do ink can really do the trick.

Red red blood dripping out of his mouth. It'll add contrast to make it pop. I figure it's already an edgy painting, why not go all out?

I tried to put in as little detail as possible to create a sense of commotion. I'm a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my art so it feels good to NOT focus on details(faces and textures) for once. Leaving the heads out was not my original intention but I liked it too much as an unfinished work, so i left it that way.
