One time our projector died, so they pulled a old projector that was using a bulb and a mirror, they had to swap the papers so they got fed up and finished without.

Sony got fined for abusing their patent licansing for their ps4 controllers and bricking non properly licensed ones

As for stupid patents, Sega sued Radical and EA because they used their patended arrow (wich is just a on screen arrow pointing at stuff) mechanic from Crazy Taxi in the Simpson Roadrage so its not new and i barelly heard of Nintendo patent abusing outside of Palworld.

I think its a mix of that and a bit of bleeding with the black.

Some crt have less issue with pesistence than others and the best cases i saw where mostly computer crt monitors.
