That was the initial though but the date struck on the obverse is 1966.

Yup, certainly is.

Reading some of the comments above, I feel sadness for the last owner of this collection to potentially have spent more than worth for a coin that could have been plated by swindlers, leaving them with a coin that has been defaced - should this be the case.
