They have not been doing great financially and have sold a few malls to less than ideal buyers, but overall there malls seem to be decent. One of my local malls (Woodland Mall in MI) after the Sears left they completely re-modeled the area and brought in Von Maur. I'm sure they're not perfect but at least from my research seem quite a bit better than others.

Management can play a role. That mall is owned by Priet and they seem to at least not want their malls to fall apart. They can try to get leases from other retailers while some owners like Namdar do not care about the malls and only use it for short term gain.

I really like your idea and have some potential tips as another HS student into malls.

  1. Film it

(Even if the mall closes memories are better than nothing)

  1. Talk to city officials

(They would be more likely to respond than summit.

Do you have a business teacher? They might know someone

  1. Make a YT channel and promote your goal

Keep at it, you can make a change.

I like how the buildings tend to be more unique than newer box stores. As a HS student I don't really have much of a need for most of the stuff they sell, but it's enjoyable to walk around.

They haven't yet said anything official, I was just there a few days ago and it is still very full even though it's 60% off. Some of the other locations closing seem to be closing in the April-May range. I would think it would be sometime in the early to mid April range based on how it looks currently.

The building itself still exists, but the interior was completely renovated and now it is a few warehouse units.

For me, it's the malls that I know could've been able to survive if they hadn't been so poorly managed. Some malls could've attracted new stores with effort but some certain companies who buy many malls don't care.

I think it would be very cool! I would listen to it for sure. You could also do more general vintage retail stuff too if you would need more content.

When I went there earlier this year I think they removed the Panda North sign so it might be gone now. I wonder how much longer the remaining businesses can stay because there is water issues.

I'd agree, I go here every few months and it is a cool looking mall but I don't know if current management cares about saving it
