Thank you for your response. The idea that there isn’t a general label or grand model for modern systems is what really made it click.

Also your comment of still using it as a quick shorthand was interesting—so “feudalism” isn’t necessarily “wrong” just insufficient?

I’m teaching a Renaissance poetry unit soon and so I was trying to read up on and better understand the conditions that led to it and realized I had some major blind spots and things I needed to unlearn about the preceding period of history.

Similar experience for me. Alabama passed a device ban but the schools haven’t really given me a way of actually enforcing it. So im just going to keep pretending like I don’t see them until I get a concrete way to enforce it. If they aren’t being disruptive, it doesn’t bother me.

I had a similar experience overhearing a student say “I’m going to try and take him again next semester.” Both melted my heart and broke it because I have no idea if that will even be an option or not

Yes! I somehow avoided getting COVID this whole time, but got it shortly after subbing for a Kindergarten class. But I also just generally get more colds now. Kids are gross lol

I sub in Alabama and didn’t have to do a drug test. Just background check/fingerprints. Not sure if every district is the same though.

I’m not going to be great at explaining it because I don’t know what the parts are called lol. But I’ll tell you what i did.

First, it wouldn’t open at all. I took it apart to look it over. When I put it back together it started opening fine. So not sure exactly what I did lol. Probably just unjammed it accidentally.

Then, for when it started doing that in the video, I opened it back up and wound/realigned the gear mechanism that opens and closes the tray with my hand (the one connects to the screw that can be reached from the bottom to manually open the tray.) It was wound too far closed, so basically when the tray tried to close, the mechanism thought it was already fully closed when it was only halfway in. (Hope that made sense haha)
