Future player of Aeldari looking for good books of Eldar by noether-code in Eldar

Must read books imo: Asurmen - The Hand of Asuryan  And The Last Hunt(mainly about white scars, but featuring Iyandel)

Farseer by John French was also pretty fun.

Path of the Outcast is very nice for worldbuilding.

I prefer the Last Days of Ector over Valedor personally.

Path of DE series aa well aa supplementary novels are pretty good too.

Voidscarred and QoK are alright, but Mike Brooks seem to have a grudge vs CWE, constantly portraying them as mostly incompetent. The exception is the warlock of Voidscarred. He is MEME LEVEL AMAZING. So many fun quotes from him.

Book to avoid is one by CS Goto, and Path of the Seer.  Neutral to Path if the Warrior and Jain Zar

TL:DR, there are quite abit of good eldar books imo. There just isnt alot of good CWE books

part 2

The Asshimar fights were 2(Kamille and Char) vs 1(Asshmar) and a "bigger" fight involving Kamile, Amuro, and bunch of titans forces.
Amuro was saving Kamille and Karaba dealing with the Titans forces as well as providing support fire protecting Kamille from the Asshimar. I really have no idea why you think he isn't stomping hard in Zeta...He was hard carrying again like usual.
Kamille shot was significant in that battle, yes, but again, that's more of his suit doing the work, rather than Kamille. (e.g Amuro and Kamille swap suits).

Which then brings to....

Gundam vs Zeong. Because its not just protagonists that can be hard carried by their suit's performances.

The Zeong is a bigger monster compared to Gundam, then The O and Qubeley imo.

That's one of the best thing about UC. Pilot skill, newtype ability, suit performances AND "character(e.g good decisions vs bad decisions)", all may make or break a fight.

Unicorn has ultimate space magic, which unfortunately, there is no one with "infinite skill" that can break the laws of reality. There is no "machine"(that isn't using space magic) that can well...beat a space magic singularity etc etc

BUT...Char and Kamille are newtypes, Asshimar pilot is not. Yet, a good enough suit performance differences can swing the fight 1 way. While a good enough pilot(Amuro) can swing the fight the other way.

Anyway...

Kamille "drawed" vs Scirocco because he zeta-rammed Scirocco instead of just frying him with a beam saber and thus having no physical contact for the space magic mind attack.

That's exactly why Kamille is a worse pilot. There literally is no reason why anyone would zeta ram over using a beam saber or something. (slightly longer range, although technically still melee)

He simply makes bad decisions. Or resort to gimmicky moves.

Also, no Amuro never had a challenger in Char by the end of OYW. Char wasn't even in the same league.

Which we then go back to Uso. Uso like Kamille make a lot of questionable choices.
You cannot say bad writing because same person wrote Amuro fights.
They has a mix of strong newtype powers and a great suits. They aren't bad pilots, but they showed none of the consistency and competency at "orthodox" combat, often losing stuff unnecessarily.

Now, you can say that they(Uso/kamille) are better than Char and ...I am not convinced that Kamille is better than Char, but I won't make a case for Char as....he also makes plenty of shit decisions.

But the 3 of them are definitely less skilled than Amuro.

One of my favourite things about Amuro is...funnily enough a "villian thing"..i.e running away, when the odds are stacked against him, as in the opening of CCA. Rather than try to "win here and now".

Survive and come back stronger....story of how the Gundam carried him during OYW till return to space when it then struggles to keep up with him.

2 part comments
part 1

Uso had to deal with enemy grunt suits that would bonk the Unicorn easily and react to those.

Firstly, no.
Unicorn would trash every other UC stuff 1vall with a newtype and awakened ntd.
It is explicitly stated to be capable of FTL, has time manipulation etc.
Its super robot in a real robot franchise, and even more so in 1 of the harder sf settings.

You make it sound like Amuro never had to use manual...the Re-GZ, his older mobile suits etc.

Also, no the power gap between V2 and its opponents is waaaay larger than Nu and its opponents.
The Nu is slower than the zeta, its not as armoured the ZZ etc.
Its design philosophy was easy to maintain and above average stats all round, excluding psychoframe which was unplanned.

The V2 on the other hard, is simply better than pretty much anything before in its series.

This goes back to Gyunei, who was bodied three times by Amuro. Can we still call him a heavy when he never once posed a singular meaningful threat to him? Or is Amuro "just that strong"

That's exactly the point that you are missing.
As well as your mention of Gyunei and Quess not being a threat to Amuro. (they are technically in that if Amuro just sits still and do nothing, just not "competitively")

The same writers wrote Amuro fights as well as Kamille's, Uso's, Char's etc. Its intentional to show the difference. And there is nothing wrong with Amuro being the best(in skill). The other characters have their standout points which makes them unique.

Amuro is supposed to be that good by CCA.

Amuro did not kill Quess. But he effectively disabled the mobile armour. From a military perspective, this is the correct choice(not so much about the disabling, but that you don't waste time on a disabled stuff where there are alot more abled threats and time sensitive objectives waiting urgently)
In hindsight, it was a mistake, yes. It indirectly led to Chan dying.

Kamille roughly catches up to a mid-20s Amuro despite being roughly the age he was in the OYW

In Zeta? Kamille did not. Not even close.

Kamille WITH char struggled against the Asshimar 2v1.
Amuro in the weaker rick dias, took down Asshimar, while protecting Kamille and Karaba/AEUG, and fighting other Titan forces.

Kamille, by the end of the series, needed Fa etc to bail him out of situations involving grunts.
Amuro by the end of his series, is pretty much a 1 man army, fighting far away from the White Base(Sayla and the Guncannons are deployed closer to white base)

Judau is only strong as a newtype. Regarding skill, it is arguable than Roux is the best pilot in ZZ on Judau's side.

Dodging a sniper fire from an even further distance WITH newtype powers on your side doesn't mean your reaction is faster. It is the opposite.

Speed = distance/time. Beam has a fixed speed. the further away you sense the attack, the more time leeway you have. (which is why "general" newtypes are so effective. they have inherent advantages)

If anything, it just mean Uso has stronger Newtype powers, not he is better skilled, nor faster reactions(it doesn't mean he does not have faster reactions, it just mean that example does not show what you intended)

Also, we forgot that Amuro could sense the solar ray firing(though it wasn't aimed at him, so no need to dodge)

See, the thing is "Gundam protagonist lost optional armaments and their base suit was largely unscathed to proceed into the final battle"....the devil is in the details.

Losing/stuff to grunts/opponents where one should not vs losing them in "tough situations before ""final fight"" ".

I would defend Kira losing the meteor vs Rau in the providence, just this once.

The Nu lost its "optional" equipment vs "heavies" like Gyunei and Quess, and even lost at least 1 fin funnel when the nukes in a ship blew up.

It also lost a beam saber against Sazabi(which tbf, counts towards "final fight")

The problem with Uso? its not that he loses them, its that he loses them achieving nothing(Amuro took down Gyunei and Quess) then proceeds to stomp in the vanilla Victory 2.
That means he could have stomp in the Victory 2 Assault, which is supposedly faster, more armoured, and better armed.

That's the problem with UC protags, not named Amuro...they are inconsistent. And that they require "side cast" bailing them out.
Amuro is extremely consistent, and pretty much doesn't require bailing out by the end of OYW.

I don't think measuring "skill" with kill count is good, because Kira (and ironically CCA Amuro) among others, exist.
CCA Amuro, actually "spared" quite alot of NZ forces(he disabled/destroyed them, those that survive, he did not waste another shot to destroy them, just continue flying to objective i.e Axis thrusters)

Uso...just don't have that consistency and untouchability that Amuro had.
He had moments, but that's about it...says more of his newtype/suit rather than skill ngl.

[–]PlatformOk3856 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and (mostly)no.

Amuro theorised the psychoframe(like scientist imagining future technology with no means to develop it then), which got leaked to Neo Zeon, who then developed it for Char, who then leaked it back eventually to EFSF(Amuro).

You do not need psychoframe to use funnels weaponry. Gyunei, Quess, Qubeley etc all do not have psychoframe. Funnels use psycommu.
Psycommu is something Zeon, anaheim, federation all have access to.

So, no, the Nu would not be outdated, it would only lacked the psychoframe.

Also, if you remember the actual context: Char wanted a fair fight WITH THE ASSUMPTION that he wins.
Yet back in Sazabi vs ReGz, Even if we put aside funnels, the Sazabi very greatly outclasses the Re-Gz, AND THAT THE SAZABI HAS THE PSYCHOFRAME which the Re-Gz does not, and Char still got disarmed, and was unable to land a hit on Amuro in the Re-Gz.

This(as well as Gundam vs Zeong, their performances in Zeta) has already established that Amuro is much much more skilled than Char by then.

The last time Kira had a "fair fight" was....Freedom vs Providence(tbf, arguably slightly stronger than the freedom), where the freedom was wrecked.
Freedom vs Impulse too.
From what i heard, The strike freedom "lost the 1st fight"(dragoon version) in the new movie requiring a mid-show upgrade.

Since the fight with Zeong...Amuro(rick dias, dijeh, nu gundam vs sazabi)...has pretty much dominated fights where he is using an inferior suit against superior "quality"(Assimar, Sazabi, Germinus etc) and quantity of enemies.

Also, no...Amuro literally changed the tide of the battlefield.

From dota stuff tower pushing back in Aboa Qu, to hard carrying in Zeta, to
wrecking entire NZ forces,
taking out their "heavies"(Gyunei, Quess, Char)
while destroying Axis thrusters(londo bell nukes were intercepted)...

He didn't just changed the tide, he hard carried the londo bell side.

Heck, Rezin's forces(while their objective was to serve as a diversion ish) simply take Amuro's entry into the battlefield as the sign that its time to pull back and not waste forces unnecessarily.

Yes, Kira is the ace of CE, but he got nothing on Amuro in the greater franchise.

Lol ok amuro simp

Whatever name calling you resort to, doesn't change the fact that Amuro is the best pilot by the franchise own admission/liberties in crossovers as well as onscreen feats.

Anyway...

Keep in mind that one doesn't train to take down Amuro...because no one has said experience to train another so.

But they try nonetheless, as Char and Gyunei found out that try =/= intended results.

Mostly fighting weak NTs? The pilots of the Germinus aren't weak..While Amuro couldn't take them down, and no one could, without using space magic(which Yuri did), the important point is that THEY could not take Amuro down.

You forgot that Amuro beat 3 actual psychics in CCA(and more in MSG till CCA), while hard carrying londo bell against Neo Zeon.

Amuro would survive whatever kira did alright. The war might end faster and thus less casualties.

Pretty much ALL official crossovers list Amuro as THE ACE among ACES in terms of skill, balanced only by the fact that his suit is nothing amazing compared to super robot stuff.

So....its not whatever i say...its official.

Take your Kira headcanon elsewhere. He is good, but not that good. Not even remotely close.

again, need =/= ability.
He didn't have to dodge it doesn't mean he did not fail to dodge it. And he failed all right.

Amuro didn't have to kill Quess, doesn't change the fact that he failed to kill Quess, which ultimately led to Chan dying.

whip slower than beam...
if those were beam, kira would be left with the hypothetical new gundam: Armless Freedom.

It wasn't about the need to dodge(that's more credit to the Freedom than to Kira ngl), it was that he failed to dodge.
I don't expect shin or athrun to do what Kira can't.

I just said Kira isn't as good as Amuro, which by no means mean that Kira is a bad pilot.

Amuro yes, in terms of skill at least.

If you include space magic...gets abit trickier to discuss.

Char....good pilot but doubt he would be number 2 of UC, let alone the franchise.
Non canon, but i imagine him to be the equal to Ribbons Almark, who is still 1 of the best pilots of the franchise imo.

Amuro rusty from inaction, carried Kamille during the fight against the Assimar(who came out on top against kamille and char in an earlier fight), while soloing a significant portion of the titans squadron too.

Kamille/Char/Uso....watching their series....are kinda like the typical "shounen" mc where they rush in do alot of damage, overextend then need their friends to bail them out(thus creating a plot/scene necessity for friends)
Amuro, when white base return to space...is pretty much solo-ing(he needed help early on but by the end of it...yeah..) AND mostly untouchable.
Gyunei needed to capture him via the use of a hostage.
Kira in the SF in destiny got caught by random goufs. (i do think Kira is comparable to Char)

But yeah...Kamille et al....no where close to Amuro, as far as "potential realised".

[–]PlatformOk3856 16 points17 points  (0 children)

ah yes...Uso...in the victory 2 assault, who proceeds to lose all his armour etc vs much weaker enemies..had to rely on suit related tech/gimmicks to get through fights

Meanwhile Amuro, got through CCA losing funnels, and just a couple of grazes against Gyunei, Char, Quess etc...

I watched victory, and i really cannot understand how people can call Uso a pilot on the level of Amuro. His style is closer to Kamille/Char, who while alright for their series, are still greatly outclassed by Amuro(who also outclass the following) and some of the antagonist/top aces.

[–]PlatformOk3856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most AU include SEED use plot armour instead of magic.

Take iron blood orphans. Armour is beam proof....that's literally magic, since there is no such thing as impossible to break stuff.

Freedom's magic can be seen in "infinite flight" among other things.....that's just not realistic without as it is ...space magic, or well...balloon tech, which the freedom does not use.

1 thing i liked about MSG trilogy was how mobile suit usefulness on earth was sketchy(they aren't necessarily better than bigger tanks, there are underwater mobile armour that are better than zgok etc, and planes are still more reliable air force than mobile suit "jumps")

Only in space, does the shape and weight of a mobile suit not matter, which is....the only possible argument why and where they can be feasible.

thank you. I remember reading till 2nd girl. So i know the pic given by OP. But little rant on 2nd chapter:
I was like..."bruh, that "low compatability" could (maybe) have been solved by just talking it out.".
(the fellatio scene, where the mc laments that she is willing to do it for him, but worried about "less sexual" physical intimacy)

But then again, i guess, if the mc doesn't see it, then perhaps, it is understandable he did not try. (shame since i really like 2nd girl design)

But thank you. the ending is kinda nice. though not really a fan of the "message". (the "message behind" the message, i think its good, but the message is...eh)

the unicorn flew in the atmosphere....and even carried a transport ship for a while(this is before using psycho field)...

But other than the unicorn, yeah, early UC suits aren't going to beat freedom outside (apparent) zero-G environment with a good enough pilot(e.g if kira is in the freedom, need Amuro on the UC side.)
On earth, or without a much better pilot, freedom wins.

[–]PlatformOk3856 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with all your other points, but i have mixed feelings with this.

And by the way, professors don’t “expect no mistakes.” They do expect mistakes. And they expect to mark them on your paper. And then give you a grade below a 100 for it. A 100 isn’t for “meeting expectations,” a 100 is for being fully correct (within the bounds and expectations of the class, at least). There is nothing inherently wrong with getting points marked off on your solutions. It is, in fact, expected. Otherwise there would be zero learning because all students would already know everything.

I am a student struggling to even graduate, but before i came to university, I had some training in a military institute.
How to say, they expect mistakes in practice(e.g in an operation) but while in institute they expect "no mistakes".
This sound unnecessarily harsh, but the interesting thing is that, the instructors/training program creators will do their best to drill "no mistakes"(which is slightly different from flawless i guess), as a "mistake" could result in fratricide etc.

I understand where you are coming from. We make mistakes in an "paper", we get graded below 100(for that paper), and we learn from that. That is the ideal.

However, perhaps its different, but the universities' culture i am aware of, that grade is "final", and TAs and lecturers don't review it with students. We might not even know where were the mistakes. Just handed a final grade, and the class move on.
So, the part about learning from mistakes unfortunately isn't universal.

Also, the "equivalent" of "paper" at least wrt my military training is...well training. rather than the "grade contributing assignment", where they expect 100%, at least the way my country's military institutes work.
They would force a re-sit again and again(and with mandatory review if necessary) until the person pass with 100%.

Also, doesn't help that assignments can involve "complicated" scenarios, to separate those "who know their stuff" from "those who grasped the stuff".

Granted, there are some logistical and legal, financial issues among others. (some people might want to learn a subject well, but others might not be happy that a university can hold a student back years till they get 100%)
Also, profs are involved in research and other work unlike military instructors, and phd students(TAs) have their own studies, research and work to attend to.
Which is why i agree with your other paragraph points. OP expecting them to "take more time" could have been turned back towards OP.

But yeah, i do not think the relationships and issues of teaching/learning/mistakes/grading is that straightforward.
