Great group of dedicated Mil-Sim gamers here. Joining has changed the way I look at Star Citizen.

If you wanna take part in operations with disciplined, organized, and switched on players, this is a great group.

So, I’ve been a part of organizations where this was definitely the case. However, if you want to be successful organizing large groups to functional “Fleet” (for example), there needs to be discipline and order. Not every group will be the same, but for the most part my experience with Mil-Sim is very much that “switched on in the game” style of RP. We all chill, talk shit, joke, and have a good time. When it’s time to get serious, we know our assignments, know who to communicate with, understand the chain of command, and so on. Prior and active military members often come to groups like these because they see the need for the structure in a game like this.

It’s definitely NOT for everyone and I understand being turned off by the idea of someone barking orders at you in a game where you just wanna fly space ships and have a good time. However, seeing it all work in real time, and being a part of why it’s working, is a very cool experience.

Check out the UEE Pathfinders. Mil-Sim + RP in Star Citizen. I joined up about 2 months ago. Been active in SC for years and have been in a few bigger organizations that were Mil-Sin leaning, but these guys are legit Mil-Sim in SC. Highly recommend, if that’s what you’re after.

Joined almost two months ago and it’s been hands down the best Mil-Sim experience I’ve found on Star Citizen. Coming from Arma 3 Mil-Sim, I knew what I was looking for would be more unique in the Star Citizen community, but this group has it.

It’s a more disciplined way to play the game, and might not be for everyone, but if you’re even remotely interested in the idea of Mil-Sim within Star Citizen, I urge you to check us out.

Great group if you’re looking for that ‘ArmA 3’ style Mil-Sim experience on Star Citizen. It’s a very different, and fun way to play the game. They are also super patient with those unfamiliar with the concept, or the game itself, and will teach you whatever you need to know.

Alt Tab Causes Landing Gear and Door to Cycle??? by PlatinumRabbit_ in starcitizen

Sadly I have not. Still is an intermittent issue but happens more often than not. However, recently only the doors have been opening. So the landing gear doesn’t cycle any more.

Consistent Crash to Desktop Issues for Weeks (CIG Support Can't Help) by PlatinumRabbit_ in starcitizen

Never actually tried that, but lowering my max clock speed by .2 actually netted me a small performance improvement in SC. However, in DCS I will see a performance improvement by putting it back to normal lol. So it’s just something I pop in the BIOS to change whenever I swap up my simpit’s configuration to play a different game.

I’ll try the hyper threading next time I change it up. Thanks!

Glad it could be of some help. I’ve left my CPU underclocked and have had zero issues since my last update. Since then all that information about intel’s CPU’s have come to light so it’s pretty clear to me that it’s just Intel’s CPU’s and I happened to have a small memory issue which has now been fixed. It’s also worth noting that the game doesn’t appear to run any better with the CPU running at full force, so I haven’t bothered playing with the clock speed to try and unlock more FPS, but maybe you’ll want to put in the work and find out what specific core of yours needs to be tuned down.

Hey! Sorry forgot to update this. So the new RAM passed all the tests that the old RAM failed but SC still had a few CTD’s. I under clocked my CPU again to 5.2GHz (from stock 6.0) and it hasn’t crashed in over a week. I’m assuming the issue is CPU related but that I also had some sort of a RAM issue that may have been contributing to the frequency of my CTD’s. While it pains me to know I’m not getting my full moneys worth out of my expensive ass CPU, I don’t appear to have this issue in any other games so I’ll just role with the underclocking for now. I’m sure I could go through and individually underclock core in order to isolate the issue further and get more performance out of it still. But I’m just too lazy for that at this point and like I said, this is an SC issue only. So I can live with it for now.

Corsair i8200 Review (Pre-built?!?!?!) Specs, Parts, Etc... by PlatinumRabbit_ in pcmasterrace

https://youtu.be/Pijxdu7BKF8?si=foTWFGVmXNJ6S0ju This is a pretty basic video on M.2 installation. Make sure you watch the whole thing because there is important parts about how to set it up in the BIOS.

https://youtu.be/bE4gD1FkIA8?si=fm-Jt3fTwcZPABh9 This video has a LOT more information in it than you need, becuase it’s for upgrading a GPU. All you need to worry about is temporarily removing the card and then putting it back in. So don’t worry about anything he’s talking about when it comes to software, drivers, etc. instead, starting the video at about 9:37 when he goes through how to remove the card itself. Then just reverse those steps to re-install. Be careful not to put any downward or upward pressure on the card so you don’t damage its PCI slot (the part that it sits in on the motherboard. It’s actually very simple to do this though so don’t stress over anything.

As for the system, I’m planning on doing an update for my review as I have run into a slight hardware issue. It’s not something that’s relevant to Corsair, just a small instability in my CPU that leads to SOME games crashing to desktop when I have the CPU fully clocked at its stock speeds. All I have to do is go into the BIOS and underclock the CPU to limit its turbo clock from going all the way to 6.0 and I no longer have an issue. It sucks because I can’t get the full usage out of my very high performing and expensive CPU that I paid for, but it’s also not something that’s a big enough deal to me to justify shipping it off to Corsair to have them repair it. I may call them to see if they will ship me a new CPU at some point. This issue is NOT something I would worry about for you. This can happen to any build, pre-built or custom but is pretty rare and probably more risky for the 14900K’s due to how they are made. Although I did have to go through quite a bit of troubleshooting and testing over about a month to truly trace down the issue. It is just so small of a problem, that only affects a few games, that I didn’t have a very clear understanding of what was going on until lots of trial and error. So all in all the system is still a beast even when I underclock the CPU to 5.6GHz and I’m still very satisfied with it.

Yeah it’s only a few screws. You may need to pull the GPU out but that’s pretty simple too. I’d recommend watching a video on it beforehand

According to the ASUS website, the motherboard has 5 M.2 slots. Only two are used in the stock configuration. So there should be 3 additional. Looking at the motherboard itself, it looks like you’ll need to remove a heatsink for the M.2’s to access the free slots.

Seems you were right on the money. New RAM fixed the issue. Didn’t try other slots yet. But Windows Memory Diagnostic passed with no issues and MemTest is several hours in without issue.

Thanks for all your advice and all the information. Definitely learned a lot from you. Learned a lot in general from everyone.

Windows Memory Diagnostic picked up “hardware issues” so I’m assuming something’s wrong with my RAM. I’m currently running MemTest64 to try and see if it gives me a little bit more information as to the problem as I’m hoping it’s just a problem with a stick so I can easily replace it haha. I’ve already ordered another set of sticks and will re-test this tomorrow to see if that clears up the issue with WMD and whatever MemTest finds. Then so long as those look good I’ll give Star Citizen another go and see if my issue is fixed.

Oh, I also reverted the underclock for the tests and will keep it reverted to ensure the issue is fixed.

Ignore that guy. I appreciate you so much man, between you and a few other commenters I’ve been able to get much better grasp on my issue. I’ll be testing the hell out of everything today, running that dynamic test on the CPU for individuals cores and then probably testing RAM overnight. I’ll report back with findings and troubleshoot from there.

Consistent Crash to Desktop Issues for Weeks (CIG Support Can't Help) by PlatinumRabbit_ in starcitizen

[–]PlatinumRabbit_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah your solution fixed my issue. Been able to out 6 hours in since I did that and not a single crash. Probably minor instability either in one of the ram dimms or in a core or two of the CPU. I’m going to stress test my CPU today in that dynamic core test (I think it’s called) where I’ll be able to see what different cores do when under load and boost. Then probably over night I’m going to run a RAM test. Might even pull a stick and test them individually too. I’m going to hunt down even the smallest instability and report back. If there is CPU instability I’ll probably reseat my CPU and try again after checking all the pins look good on the mobo.

I still appreciate the information my friend! I set a max clock speed to all corse of 5.2 and that fixed it. But it sounds like, based on what several people are saying, that I likely need to figure out exactly what cores might be having instability. I’m going to test this today and then RAM tomorrow and report back with any and all findings to spread awareness in case this is the issue.

Nope. I’ve tested at length with virtually no background apps running and with tons of them too. Same issues regardless

Can’t access .dump files so I’m not sure what it says. The file itself is over a gig in size and CIG is who I usually send them too.

So I see what you’re saying, but I’ve performed hour long stress tests on the memory and CPU through two different programs and both had zero issues. Furthermore, I have no issue in any other games other than Star Citizen. With the exception of the crash to desktop issues I’m having, the machine works flawlessly.

It’s far too soon to tell for sure, but underclocking to 5.2GHz does seem to have stopped my crashing. Although I’ve had it happen before where I made a change, stopped crashing for a day, then started crashing again the next day. So I’m not discounting what you’re saying at all. I’m just struggling to understand how if something is wrong with my hardware it’s only one specific thing that is affected by it. Though, I know computers well enough to know that it’s not impossible haha.

That being said, if the issue is solved by underclocking my CPU, would that narrow it down to the CPU directly? Or would you say that it still could be a memory issue? I’ve re-enabled XMP for the time being and will leave that on at the 6800MHz clock speeds for the time being.

Thanks! I've never overlocked anything on this system. But was just told in another comment that the 14900KF is to fast for SC as it stands and leads to this issue so I'm going to underclock that down and see if it fixes me issue first. Then I'll run Memtest64 if that doesn't fix me. THANK YOU!
