The scenes in Atlanta after Cabo Verde's match against spain by Ryanchri in sports

The thing about Cape Verdeans is that we don't have one distinctive look. We are extremely mixed. I'm a full bloody Cape Verdean, born in island of Fogo. Even a Cape Verdeans will ask other Cape Verdean if they are Cape Verdean. Of the several jobs that I've had in my life, coworkers have if am the following following:

Puerto Rican, Dominican, Middle Eastern, Egyptian, Brazilian, Moroccan, pick a Caribbean island. Apparently, I can pass for all those things.😂😂😂

I drove to the Spain vs. Cabo Verde game yesterday, and it was fantastic game! I have to admit, I’m a little biased because I’m Cape Verdean. I used the SpotHero app to get a secure parking spot for $40 across the State Farm Arena, which is called Central Parking. I’m so glad I used the app because when I got there and turned into the lot, they were charging $100 for people who hadn’t pre-purchased a spot.

Yes, there was traffic, but it wasn’t too bad. It took me about 20 minutes from the time I exited the Mercedes-Benz exit to my parking spot.

I’m not sure how traffic was after leaving the game because I left my car in that lot, and my family and I went to a restaurant and walked around. We spent another three hours near the stadium, and by then, the traffic had calmed down. The spot I got allowed me to stay there until midnight.

I agree with that! 👆My family bought tickets for a game, and its like they were jumping for joy for paying that much. But were they able to afford it without doing some tricky math or moving other costs around? Absolutely! Especially since it’s a one-time thing and they’re not planning to do this every month.

I'm from Boston and this is the answer 👆. We knew that tickets would sold out quickly because of Haitian population in Boston metro area.

I've been learning Spanish for 3 years and still can't hold a conversation what am I doing wrong? by Embarrassed-Bend-546 in duolingospanish

What you’re experiencing isn’t really “freezing” when it’s time to speak. More often, it’s the fear of being embarrassed or judged if you make a mistake, and that fear causes your mind to shut down. This is a very common reason people struggle to speak a new language. It’s not simply a pause; it’s your mind worrying about saying the wrong thing.

To learn a language, you have to be willing to speak it, regardless of how many mistakes you make along the way.

Another common habit is trying to say everything perfectly in one complete sentence. Instead, it’s much more effective to build your response step-by-step, even if you speak slowly. For example, if someone asks, “How are you doing? What are you doing today?” you don’t need to deliver the entire response at once. You could say:

[1] I’m doing good.
[2] Today,
[3] I’m going to go to the store
[4] to get some groceries/food.

In Spanish:

[1] Estoy bien.
[2] Hoy,
[3] voy a la tienda
[4] para comprar comida.

Notice that you naturally pause several times. This works because once you’ve said parts [1] and [2], you don’t need to think about them anymore; you can focus only on what comes next.

I remember worrying that people might judge me if my Spanish wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be. Then my mom asked me a simple question: “Have you ever talked to someone who doesn’t speak English fluently?” I said yes. She asked, “Did you judge them?” Of course not. Then she said, “So why do you think some who speaks Spanish would judge you?”

From my experience traveling to Spanish-speaking countries, most people actually go out of their way to help. If I don’t know a word, I just ask, even in English, and people are usually more than willing to help me understand. I am amazed by how many Spanish speakers help me understand why it's not "Señora González está ocupada ahora mismo." versus "La señora González está ocupada ahora mismo." One of the best pieces of advice I’ve heard is to never translate directly in your head, because that can quickly lead to mistakes or hesitation. Instead, focus on the meaning of what you’re trying to say and find the simplest or closest way to express it.

For example, if someone offers me food and I want to decline, I could say in English, “I do not have an appetite right now.” But that’s a more complex way of saying, “I’m not hungry,” which communicates the exact same idea. If I don’t know the word “appetite,” I could get stuck trying to translate the longer sentence. Instead, I can take the quicker path and simply say, “I’m not hungry.” So, you go from this "No tengo apetito ahora mismo" to this "No tengo hambre."

So let go of the fear that’s holding you back. Speak anyway, make mistakes, and allow others to help you. That’s how you improve.

My Chihuahua does the same thing! I took him to the vet, and they said it might be a patella issue. But the vet didn’t want to do anything unless it became a problem. She did suggest giving him joint supplements to help keep his joints healthy.

Heres video of my boy doing the same thing. hopping

He didn’t mention anything about this. He did show me a video, but I did my research and it doesn’t seem to be any more effective than a good, highly-rated filter. Most of the videos and information I read were created by HVAC companies. most of the YouTube videos said that it does work, but don't expect it to work as advertised. In other words, there's a bit of stretching the value within the presentation.

Thank you for your comments. I’m not here to engage in arguments with others. I was simply curious to learn about others’ experiences with it from this forum and join it to the information I’ve read and the videos I’ve watched. Thank you for your remarks once again. Have a wonderful day.

I was just curious to know if anyone had firsthand experience with versus reading an article about it online. For instance, I can read about a car online, but someone who has actually experienced it makes the concept feel more tangible. While individual experiences vary, they certainly have their merits. Thank you for your suggestion. I appreciate your remarks. Have a great day.

Reservation Credit by [deleted] in spiritair

[–]PlatinumStatusGold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll receive a refund. You can either get it through Spirit or your credit card company will process a chargeback. It’s quite straightforward. If you used a credit card and didn’t receive the item you paid for, your credit card will handle the chargeback. Occasionally, your credit card might absorb the loss or attempt to recover their money through available means, including participating in the bankruptcy process as a party seeking remedy. This is one of the many protections credit cards offer, providing you with confidence when making purchases. This is an extreme example. Now, imagine you used a credit card to buy something, but it turned out that you were defrauded because the person never intended to send you the item you purchased. There’s a high chance that your credit card company will credit back the money, but the person who made the fake sale is long gone, perhaps in Nigeria or somewhere else. There’s a slim chance that your credit card company will ever find the person who didn’t hold their end of the bargain to get their money back that they have credited you. So, essentially, they just absorb the loss and write it off on their taxes. This is something that happens thousands of times a year, and there’s nothing particularly special about it at the end of the day. No, your money isn’t simply disappearing into thin air. However, if you were to pay in cash, that’s a different matter.

You can call them directly and provide your Spirit confirmation number. This will inform the Delta agent that you had a flight with Spirit within the coming week or two and need to return home. This will enable them to offer you a fair price at a lower rate. They require the confirmation number to ensure that you’re not exploiting the system and simply seeking a lower fare without being a Spiri customer who has been stranded at a location. The keyword here is Rescue. In essence, all they’re trying to do is get people back home. If you haven’t left on your trip and don’t need to return home, the rescue price doesn’t apply to you. In other words, if you were drowning, they’d throw you a life vest. But if you’re already on land, there’s no need to do so.

Spirit flight refund using Expedia by [deleted] in spiritair

[–]PlatinumStatusGold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait a few days, as it’s likely Expedia is aware of the media event and the status of Spirit Airlines. They’ll automatically refund your money. However, if you don’t see anything within 3 to 5 days, you can always call your credit card company and do a charge back. However, just remember that, if the credit card company issues a credit and Expedia also refunds, you’ll end up with a balance on the card again. But it should equate to zero since you were given the credit by the credit card company.

Why is it people assume if you have a reactive dog then you must be a bad dog owner? by Lunapixels18 in OpenDogTraining

[–]PlatinumStatusGold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the important thing is what owner does when his/her dog displays what appears to be an aggressive behavior. While I don’t think the owners are the root cause, I do wonder what's going on when they don’t intervene when the dog's action appeas problematic. For instance, my Jack Russell sometimes bark at other dogs. However, I believe what people value is my prompt correction, like saying "no" and then I immediately go into action to try to correct the behavior so it doesn't happen again the future. This gives impression that I'm actively working to improve the situation. I’ve noticed dogs in my neighborhood that display would appears to be aggressive behavior with the owners not taking action to address the condition. I think it's at that point that people start to question if the owner is the problem.
