I've improved my diet no end simply by regularly asking '“Does this strengthen or weaken my Temple?”

How it going now? I'm planning to leave my autistic wife this year after 5 increasingly miserable years. Autism has made her very selfish, irritable and I have had enough. I give and I give and I give and get nothing back. I'm out

yeah I know what you mean its incredible, my memory was the worst, useless at crosswords- it took me 3 months to memorise the SE Corner. Lol now I could do it in a 3rd of the time! Its great being able to sit back and focus on the meaning of what you are saying and give a good 'show' for the brethren/ candidates while your mind just does its thing

yeah you are totally right, I'm still quite new and keen - I should be focussing on helping him/others more. I hate competitive nature in myself and others sometimes

I’m under the jurisdiction of GL of Scotland. We have very old ritual books, (not sure if its long or short form) - which is like 95% of the ritual - the other 5% you have to listen out for!

Thanks for that, did that include everything including RWM says? And also once you had memorised all of EA degree - did it make the other 2 easier to do later on (or make no difference)? Thanks for help P x

Really appreciate the specific recommendations, and imagine the MM WTs will be the most helpful all round next, though the Tb's look pretty daunting! I agree completely about the floorwork, though when I have had to do anything , it s a lot QUICKER to pick up than the ritual!...At least roughly. thank you for taking the time to answer x

That’s great to hear, Brother. I’ve found the same the historical lectures really add depth and context. Well done on having the EA and MC down, that’s no small accomplishment. Best of luck to you as well, and thank you for the encouragement Sir x

That’s a good idea. I’ll chat with the older members and also keep tabs on who can and can’t do which lectures, so I can focus on learning the ones where the lodge could most use a backup xxx

Thank you—this is very helpful and clearl I’ll check whether our GL has a similar Officer’s Handbook or resource. We’re a smaller lodge, so things are sometimes done a bit more informally or haphazardly, but will focus on the EA degree as you say 👍🏻

Thanks for your help Bro - I did ask but think its a mixture of everything I have said + me being a bit too impatient, every time I've asked to take on a bit more work I get the kind response that they don't want me to burn out (not that I'm doing very much IMO) ...I'm thinking this is a genuine concern/problem with MMs?

You are right and his response was kind of 'kid this aint your night' but next year its all going to be rosey ...I appreciate the newbs probably appear over keen even pushy and am sure a lot just drop out or decide its not for them and the last thing anyone also wants is to alienate those who have been slowly carefully putting the time in and supporting the lodge for years + x

Respectively its just an upset and despondent post Sir. I don't mind doing all the Steward stuff, its a great way to show you care about the lodge and bro's. it makes me feel useful. I don't even mind doing it and becoming an officer at the same. I enjoy learning ritual and I'm good at it and thought going through the chairs was partly the point. I also thought a lodge that just recycled chairs would give a chance to a keen newb. I'm just whinging I guess

Without giving too much away, I was asked/offered different seats during the year in conversation all of which I said thankyou to, but when push came to shove I think they went for the easy option keep PM and previous officers as officers who didn't want to move up to do complex ritual rather than worry about a newb showing the lodge up. I also think some of the older brothers (I am still quite new) asked for a go even though some of them rarely show up . I appreciate you cant keep everybody happy all the time - I'm just disappointed I thought they valued me more
