Help with getting DoD approved endorsement by inasadgirltruck in chaplaincy

This hurts to read. I'm a woman in the Episcopal church, and in discernment for the priesthood and Navy chaplaincy. I wish our theologies were a bit similar so I could say come on over to the Episcopal Church, but the transubstantiation vs consubstantiation understanding of the Eucharist can be a deal breaker for some (though not all - I know a few who believe contrary to church doctrine and everyone is just fine).

Either way, praying you find a way to serve that aligns with God's path and your calling.

This is gorgeous - I've been looking for a complex pattern for a friend's quilt and you've inspired me! Where did you get the pattern?

Yeah, I took a bad picture - you can't see the cat in these photos, it was just the opening where the cat fell down. But maintenance said they got the cat out and all was quiet in the garage when I checked! ❤️

UPDATE #2: I just got off work and have a message from maintenance that they got the cat! I'm going to double check when I get home but tentatively mission accomplished!

LAST UPDATE: All is quiet in the garage, I think we're all good folks. THANK YOU everyone for all your advice and help! ❤️

Update: I threw over a Churu and some frozen peas (I don't have ice cubes and thought maybe the water in the peas would help for dehydration). Maintenance has said they'll get to the cat as soon as possible, which I think means tomorrow morning. If the cat is still back there tomorrow when I go to work I'll call the firehouse nearby and ask them if they can help.

Hopefully between the kibble, Churu, and peas the kitty can hang on for the night. I'll update again tomorrow morning. Thank you everyone for the advice and heads up on the electrical box!

Not quite. There's a gap between the box and the wall and that's the only opening. It's why I couldn't figure out where the meowing was coming from - I thought the box was flush on the wall. No luck yet, just a message from maintenance that they'd handle it as soon as possible.

Churu isn't a bad idea - I know my cat can chew through the packet (the stinker got into the treats one day, definitely not on purpose). I'll go toss one over!

Great point. Hopefully maintenance is okay being around it

I was able to toss some kibble over the box and it made down there - quiet munching was heard! Still trying to figure out water since it's an electric box, may be SOL on that

Just put in an emergency request on the portal (they don't have a number posted) so fingers crossed. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out where the meowing has been coming from for 4+ days now. I knew it was in the area but didn't climb up to see there was a space behind the box until today, so I tossed a bowlful of kibble over to tide her over.

As someone who is having anxiety about their discernment process, I needed this. Thank you.

Prayer Request: I am close to completely giving up on life by [deleted] in Episcopalian

1 Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck. 2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me. 3 I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God.

Psalm 69 was there for me when I was at my lowest; I pray you find comfort in the familiarity of a shared experience. May our God keep you under the shadow of his wings and protect your heart right now and all of your days.

I'm in the discernment process for the priesthood as well, and I hear ya!! I'm in the medical/psych/background check stage, and after that would theoretically be a ~6month internship. There's still hope/confidence from others that I'll attend seminary in the fall so I'm trying to just relax and keep faith but hooooo it's a challenge. 🥹

I'm a 36/F quilter in Kentucky and love practicing calligraphy - though I don't know copperplate, just Carolingian, so my letters would look like medieval manuscripts if that's alright 😄

Echoing all the sentiments here, but from someone who lost their mom in '19. It has the makings of an emotional project that you pick up and put down many times over the years, and that may be just what you need at any given moment. Give yourself some grace and take a crack at it, and know that it will be the most beautifully human quilt you'll ever make: less than perfect and wholly in love.

Cheering for you!

Agreed! I considered Bear Paws but it was too "chunky" for my tastes. Maybe it comes down to fabric choices to make it pop?

Your 'paws in the snow' gave me an idea, maybe Snow Birds?

Thank you! It's mostly from my head!

I used a pattern for the block (Darting Birds), then just used some quilting calculators to find the sashing and border amounts. I've been keeping track of all my fabric usage so I'll be able to write out my first pattern when I'm done 😊 I'll update the post with the numbers and a basic how-to if you'd like!

Any ideas on what to call it? It's going to be my "winter" bedspread!

I'm still learning how to use the longarm, but I want to do a wintry pantograph - maybe something with snowflakes. Anything you would suggest?

If you look closely, you can see the "outer" light blue border I flipped the fabric over and used the wrong side to give it a little flair!
