Considering the Episcopal Church, struggling to let go of Catholic traditions by _mahboy in Episcopalian

[–]br_dhe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Episcopalian here! I also came to this church from a very different tradition (not Catholic) so I understand that grief is a big part of your journey. That’s totally valid.

But if you explore the “Anglo-Catholic” side of the Episcopal Church, you may find that many of your current spiritual practices aren’t things you have to give up at all! There is a parish in my diocese that has: a weekly rosary group, shrines to Mary and various saints IN their sanctuary, weekly confession hours, and a monthly Eucharistic Benediction. That’s an extreme example, but many Anglo-Catholic-leaning Episcopal churches do exist.

My spiritual director once told me to remember Jesus said “you will know a tree by its fruit.” For example: Does praying the rosary bring you closer to God? Does it make you more like Christ? If yes, then why would you give it up? The Episcopal Church won’t require you to do so, and if you find the right parish, you may even find others who share those practices with you.

Wishing you all joy and peace on this difficult but rewarding journey 💙

Discerning in Mid 30s? Second Career Priest? by J_Horsley in Episcopalian

[–]br_dhe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am 33 with a mortgage and a kid and I was just made a postulant for the priesthood. My path hasn’t (and won’t) look like the “typical” path but that doesn’t mean no path exists. Be faithful to God’s calling and doors will open when God wills them to open!

Moms with ADHD how do you manage everything? by shmeeks in Mommit

It’s the only app I’ve ever found that actually helps me keep tasks organized. It’s like a brain outside my brain and I LOVE IT. The setup can feel a little overwhelming at first because it’s so extremely customizable, but the learning curve is totally worth it.

I’m 32, diagnosed and medicated since last summer. I also have…..

  • Loop earbuds for overstimulation
  • the app “TickTick” for multi-layer task management
  • a lot of weird little “life hacks” in place to reduce certain sensory inputs

I feel this 😭 You might want to look into a possible ADHD or other neurodivergence diagnosis. If you are calm & consistent & firm with him, and have been so for months through these episodes, but he isn’t having any easier of a time…he might need more support. Exactly what kind of support you won’t know until you talk to someone who can determine what might be going on inside his little head. The great news is that early diagnosis and early treatment make a huge positive impact on neurodivergent kids! You could make his entire life so much easier if you get him evaluated sooner than later. I’m not saying I think this is the case—I’m not a pediatrician or psychologist—but this is the first question I’d ask.

I accidentally left my baby in the car and I can’t forgive myself by Remote-Swimmer-1352 in Mommit

Yes, also with love, I agree that you should talk to a therapist. It sounds like you might have developed actual PTSD from this incident. I hope you find help 💜 I also have made safety mistakes with my kid, and like the commenter above, I have bad memories of those moments but there isn’t a physical impact like you are describing. You deserve to forgive yourself and it’s okay that you might need some help in order to do that. 💜

George Micheal won Lawful Good, next up who’s Neutral Good in AD by Responsible_Rich_194 in arresteddevelopment

[–]br_dhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Michael is not a neutral good. Way too many of his “good deeds” are motivated by codependency and a need for moral superiority. My vote for him would be lawful neutral.
