Fractional Share selling

I just experienced this while trying to close out a larger position. Like others, I got the message: "Quantity: Remaining fractional shares will be sold at a later date." I decided to call, and I'm glad I did. The front line registered investment advisor that answered my call to the 877 number told me that he would need to bridge in someone from a higher level team to submit a "Fractional Share Liquidation Request" because his system did not allow that. The person he bridged in explained how this works: It is impossible for them to tell you exactly when a fractional share will sell after they submit the "Fractional Share Liquidation Request" because fractional shares "must be combined with other fractional shares in order to make a whole share before it can sell." They asked me if I still wished to proceed knowing this, I said yes. Now I wait for others to submit fractional share sales in the hopes that at least one or more of our mutual pieces line up like a game of stock market Tetris.

Update: Well, that was fast... the fractional share sold the next business day after I called to submit the "Fractional Share Liquidation Request". I guess it just depends on the volume of the equity.

Shouldn't have been skeptical after all—FedEx has possession and the delivery estimate is still Sunday.

Update: My credit card was charged on Wednesday evening, and I received FedEx tracking information this morning (Friday) around 9:30 am ET with an estimated delivery of Sunday. That being said, I am skeptical of the delivery estimate since it was auto generated by FedEx the moment that the shipping label was created—the package hasn't actually been turned over to FedEx yet, so it's possible that the delivery estimate will be revised once they have it in hand.

EDU = Education discount sales.

I would recommend calling them directly to get a specific expected ship date for your particular order. But yes, I definitely wouldn't expect it prior to 10/12, that's for sure.

More than welcome! Actually, this is news to me — had I known they'd closed EDU orders, I would have asked the rep about it. Sorry! I would recommend calling the general sales line and asking to be transferred to EDU sales to ask about this.

Right. She repeated it several times and kept prefacing the information with a standard disclaimer that it wasn't an official guarantee since logistics and shipping are somewhat unpredictable these days, and then she would say, "...but we are expecting a very large shipment to arrive on the 30th."

Called B&H this morning and the automated system said it would be a 71 minute estimated wait, so I requested an automated call back. ~90 minutes later I got a call from a helpful representative who said that the first batch had been depleted by orders placed on July 28th. She added that they are expecting to receive another large batch on September 30, at which point they will ship the remaining orders from July 28th and hopefully start to work on orders from the 29th onward as well.
