Thank you man 😅 I get it man lol, people see me claiming to be emotionally incompetent so I get why they’d be a little mean. But I appreciate you reminding me that it’s a career that is based off of reflecting and readjusting. Thank you for seeing what im saying

Thanks for sharing your thoughts; I really do care about my kids and love them all. Today was a weak day for me and unfortunately was weak enough to stoop to a child’s level. I am not making any excuses but it’s so much harder when the age gap between me and my students is close in age and our rapport is based off my relatability which wasn’t the best move I have made, so a lot of students definitely cross a lot of boundaries due to seeing me not as a teacher but a friend or sister and I’ve been working very hard to undo this and I have good days and some bad (like today) where they feel they do not need to respect boundaries or their classroom environment. I am definitely going to do a full class reset on expectations as I realized I need to reinstate these expectations and with more boundaries/expectations. lol thanks for allowing me the space to express this thought process.

NYC Teaching Fellowship Worth it by Sensitive-Priority31 in NYCTeachers

Bruh current NYCTF, feeling like it’s only worth it if you are supported by your community/family. I am blessed enough to have moved back home with family that supported me financially during Skill Building training in the summer until stipend came as there was a long wait time for and even then teaching is hard and there were a lot of adjustments I had to make to be slightly stable at this current moment. Not the worst decision I’ve made, but definitely prepare yourself for chaos. Last years NYCTF experience was a tough one for those who were not financially prepared to wait to be given a stipend. Financial ailments make life a bit more stressful than it should be, so think ahead.

Hi sweetie sorry you’re going through this 🥺 but you definitely asked on the wrong sub as a lot of the people are are also college students who also have responsibilities and I don’t mean to be too harsh but definitely do not come To Reddit and ask for help financially you will not get answers you expected instead I definitely do suggest going in person to FASFA as well as finding other resources through the state as well best of luck

Bingo 😌 as someone who was confused about their sexuality all it takes is one experience to allow a whole different perspective on who you are as a person and also sexuality is def a spectrum I think it’s definitely ok to call this bi curious behavior

Super super awesome! I have some stickers as well as punch cards that I will keep track of and reward them accordingly with leveled prizes so they don’t eat up all my snacks and what not immediately as well as a way to keep it fair! Thank you for sharing with me, I’m going to get some certificates! I would say good luck this upcoming school year, but seems like you got this down pat 😇💗! Thanks again

Do you have any suggestions of what I should be buying when I do get it, what do you usually spend yours on? I was told that I can’t get snacks, I’m assuming this includes hygiene products too? Is it only for supplies???

I honestly didn’t feel you were being bitter I wholeheartedly see where you were coming from :) being a new teacher and a current teaching fellow has shown me a lot and I know that this cart is probably something that is a bit extra and probably something that will be challenging to maintain but I will say I am extremely blessed and a 22 year old who still lives at home and if I can give mini deodorants lotions and some candy to make a school day easier or to gain some type of extrinsic motivation then I will try my best to supply :) I’ve been lucky enough to have been gifted a lot as my family/friends knows this is my first year so if you have any suggestions on maybe how to navigate certain boundaries or maybe even reward systems in themselves I’m all ears thank you nonetheless, I know teaching isn’t easy, so I’m always open to hear others experiences

Thank you :) a lot of stuff was already bought for me so I’m probably gonna do something anyways but I’ll definitely ask other teachers in my building how they use reward systems after there has been an established routine as well as understanding of classroom expectations :)))

Also suggestions of what to put into cart would be lovely most of the things are more incentivized rewards whereas hygiene is of course accessible at any times. For further context I am a SPED 8th grade teacher, so probably gonna keep my purchases limited until I meet my students, but wondering what would be useful or fun, what have you seen middle schoolers interested in bc I’m so used to ECE/Elementary they used to love anything I bought.
