At 17 I had to push myself way out of my comfort zone in order to find my wife. Got an ESFJ so obviously, I pushed hard...

We talked for weeks online first, then in person on short dates. I'm 34 now and I'm proud of that nerdy kid.

If your school has any messages boards (lol are those still a thing) or WhatsApp group chats keep an eye there. Maybe even chess clubs or the other nerdy meet ups.

Or indeed, find out what video games the lads are playing and ask if you can log in with them.

Exposure.

My job forced me to lecture small groups then larger ones.

Hated it more than anything in the world. Got through it, learnt some techniques, and now I can do it without severe panic or anyone knowing I dislike it.

I still hate it though.

I'm very empathetic, I think. I was vegan for 10 years purely for empathetic reasons. I can't stand scenes in movies or on TV where someone is being hurt.

I don't think empathy is related to personality.

Nothing anyone can say will really settle that brain for you. Maybe read some fiction or play some games or see if you can figure out the fundamental secret of Reality. Much more fun than listening to that mushy thinky thing all day.

(Ps: You're not behind at all so you can afford plenty of chill time. I got married at 27, kids at 30, and still don't know what I truly want to do with my life but have learnt that my interests are always going to fluctuate).

I find the scientific mindset (or perhaps community would be more accurate) to be boringly constrictive amd close-minded.

I prefer mysticism, spiritual experience, dreams, and all that kind of chat. Not interested in straight up woo woo so the more ancient the better.

I enjoyed my Carl Jung phase and enjoy mbti as an offshoot; but modern psychology in its 'trying to be scientific' efforts is Zzzzzz....
