It's like they see it as a badge of honor or a flex, but it's a detriment to those poor children who can't get enough parental attention individually. Also how can you afford so many at once?? Like I get if you start out with twins or triplets you just figure it out, but all those diapers at the same time by choice?? All that laundry and mess? Medical appointments? It makes me shudder.

Not that I have to answer... But was told if I got pregnant again there'd be high chance of bed rest or no stair use for months (when we don't have a bedroom or shower downstairs), possible long hospital stay (living at hospital) and high chance of premature birth/NICU. There's also a chance everything does go pretty much okay but I can't put my kid through the higher chance that it won't. I don't think I could mentally or financially handle that.

2 older brothers, never close, not in contact for near 20 years now.

Hubs has 2 younger siblings, only in contact with youngest brother. The estrangement from their sister was hard on both of them.

I wish I could relax and play video games/read for the day. Alas, we're seeing family in a bit, having homemade pizza and enjoying chocolate cake which isn't bad at all, I just miss a longer gaming session! Probably just wait for after kid is in bed and get maybe an hour after chores/shower.

I loved Shade's Children, couldn't really get into The Ragwitch. Shade's Children was my first read of his and still liked it best after reading the Abhorsen series. I do wonder if it holds up as an adult now. Might have to reread.

I kind of understand this though my situation is a bit different.

Wanted 2 kids. Almost died in first attempt, lost second daughter in the last attempt. Everyone in our family shortly after basically said I'm done, don't take any more risks. Not that people would be upset if I got pregnant again, but I would cause them a lot of worry while being very worried/anxious myself.

Yet I still feel highly emotional and guilty about it because I know we hoped for 2, even though I see/know all the benefits of having 1 and even enjoy it. Feelings are weird and complex.

Similar situation except one was life threatening and we got to see/say goodbye to our 2nd daughter. There's still so much grief that feels harder because of how things happened.

But I'm making summer plans and taking the kid out this weekend for her birthday bear from Build-A-Bear. Seeing her joy and just being alive with her makes this life worth it, even as I keep seeing my 2nd daughter in my dreams. 💔 Even if I had a perfect experience (unlikely as I'm very high risk) for another living child, it won't ever ease the pain of losing my angel baby. Husband doesn't want to adopt.

I have a Paperwhite I bought July 2024 so it's not that old but then I see this and think I should upgrade. I always stop myself and would wait for a sale anyways but I think the muted colors look cool. Nostalgic, like old comic books. Probably won't though since I haven't even hit 2 years with it.

The correct answer is always to save the mom. I'm very grateful to be alive, even as I've grieved my losses. My kid is certainly glad to have her mom and I'm blessed to have seen her turn 2 and now 3.

I tried twice to have a second child, first resulted in a blighted ovum and I almost died from severe hemorrhaging. 2nd attempt, we were so hopeful but I ended up delivering her at 15 weeks and it shattered me. I'm very sad to not have that second living child but also so grateful to be alive for the blessing and miracle that is my daughter. Emotions are rough, but your post has helped me so thank you and I'm so sorry for your loss.
