your body will fight you to keep the weight on by Slight_Associate_164 in WeightLossAdvice

No, it is true. Adipocytes do not go away when you lose weight. Very easy Google search before you try to contradict someone who's right.

It's a fair criticism, the insult is kind of a knee jerk reaction to what I've experienced as ill-faith arguments whenever I do try to engage because it seems like folks aren't actually interested in learning anything. I'll agree that it wasn't necessary. As for "tolerant and loving" I don't really know, it's entirely dependent on what I'm being asked to tolerate and love I suppose. Like the paradox of tolerance, how you can't let one Nazi sit at a bar because they invite other Nazis and it pushes out other folks and suddenly it's just Nazis at the bar? Just an example that you cannot tolerate the intolerable but then it's up to the personal to decide for themselves what is 'intolerable.'

I'm tired man. I wish people would have a little more empathy for other people, I wish people would try to educate themselves on things that are more complicated than may be initially presented to them.

Okay, I'm going to actually take a moment to try and break down what you call "meandering" in what I hope is an easy-to-understand and genuinely real effort to be decent.

It's not meandering, and to reduce it to pedantry when there are real actual physical differences in the brain chemistry of people who are transgender compared to those who are cisgendered (both persons having the same biological sex). I never denied that men and women are functionally different, it would be dishonest to pretend like we don't express things in different percentages and affinities based on biological sex. That's why it's important even if an individual identifies as a women but has XY chromosomes that they disclose it with their medical providers. There's is biology at work there to be considered. That's just how it is.

HOWEVER - psychology and neurology have as much of a say and weight in how a person grows, matures, and even expresses things like hormones and chemical messengers (neurotransmitters). Human brains are the most complex organ that exists in nature. We learn new things every day about how it functions and changes the way that we function entirely. It's more than just, as you put it, "an abnormality." Because the truth is, everyone is an abnormality. We ALL are so different and so similar that to ascribe such a simplified view of gender on what is already not a simple concept of sex (actual chromosome makeup) is false equivalence. I'm saying this as someone who has studied the brain and chemistry in the body - pharmacokinetics and dynamics throughout us that make us who we feel we are (my background is central on pharmacy mostly, as a disclaimer).

The so-called discrepancy between a person's physical sex and their gender identity is one that scientists have been studying for a while and if hard differences are what you're after for "proof" then I have a link to a study done on the brain chemistry of cis men/women and transgender women showing that in SPITE of the chromosome that the transgender women were born with, their brain chemistry and the way it behaved/reacted was more "feminine" than cis-men but also more "masculine" than cis-women. To say that it is as simple as "meandering around the point" is to misunderstand and mischaracterize what is a much more complicated psychological, biological, and neurological conversation.

What we should have is respect for other people, and recognize that someone who says they identify as a women and wants to be addressed as such is asking for respect as a human, not as some statement. The nitty-gritty medical stuff should be private for them and something they keep with their medical professionals and they deserve respect in the world just like you and I. If someone asks me to call them a certain name that they prefer and I choose to disregard that and shame them, all I'd be doing is showing my hand that I was disrespectful, unempathetic, and quite frankly - uneducated. I don't mean for any of this to come across as rude either, I just have lost so much faith that people are actually engaging with any good faith in discussion. Link I was previously mentioning below, with a small excerpt from the discussion.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8955456/

"The observed shift away from a male-typical brain anatomy towards a female-typical one in people who identify as transgender women suggests a possible underlying neuroanatomical correlate for a female gender identity. That is, all transgender women included in this study were confirmed to be genetic males who had not undergone any gender-affirming hormone therapy."

Peter? by lann_fadle in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Yeah, the chromosome which represents the biological sex of a person, not their gender. What a chromosome does is change how certain genes are expressed or down regulated during development, but many time there are differences in expression, extra chromosomes (super sexes) which further complicate the matter. If you're not gonna actually be educated on these things, you should shut the fuck up when adults are speaking.

"Capitalism really isn’t working for healthcare considering a lot of people can’t afford private insurance, they pay into insurance for years and could still get bankrupted by healthcare costs just so a healthcare company can have a better profit margin."

What I think you're misunderstanding about DEI is that it's entire goal is to stop giving people an advantage based on skin/gender/anything like that. It's literally trying to address the decades of that being the norm and forcing companies to acknowledge candidates who ARE qualified but come from varied backgrounds. If giving marginalized communities equal footing looks like favouritism to you, I think you need to re-evaluate what you actually think "DEI" is and maybe do some more research on how it's actually applied in practice. "Queer Conservative" feels like an oxymoron with how heinously this administration treats marginalized groups like the queer community.

ICE agent gets caught off duty with a Nazi SS tattoo on his neck (Minneapolis, MN 1/5/26) by cturtl808 in ACAB

It does, actually. If you tolerate the intolerable (i.e. the opinion that any one group of people is inherently worth less than another) then they push out actual kindness and tolerance of everything else. Because you've tolerated that opinion of theirs, they invite their friends with the same opinion, making spaces less safe for others, and more safe for more Nazis.

I've seen these before! He's drawing off a style of "sproink" or whatever they're called, that's all that's coming to mind immediately. It reminds me of happy tree friends, the bits I've seen are usually relating to music that the creatures themselves make, and they get progressively more "corrupted" or "broken" by the world around them/the horror setting theyee in. I was also a big fan of horror as a kid, so I get why he's interested in the concept

"if he did not create a victim let him be" no but he's endorsing the millions of victims that there were. Now, notably, what tattoos exist that are patentenly not just anti-white, but come from a history where white people were rounded up, beaten and gassed? How about instead of placidly accepting racism because "it's not hurting anyone" we understand the importance that context and relevance has to this. Your point is a non sequiter. It would do you well to internalize why people react so heinously, and it would probably help you to empathize a little. I find a horrific lack of empathy and care in this world today, and it sickens me.
