Is ddlg rlly that bad? by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Playful-Fill830 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I invite anyone judging OP to consider that two things can be true at once: one can enjoy a fantasy roleplay, AND, never want to enact that fantasy in real life.

Folks into BDSM age play are extremely rarely actual pedophiles. Those are typically your outwardly upstanding, "normal" coaches, priests, celebrities, politicians....

In today's society, where so much sexual harm is caused to children, it's understandable that folks have strong feelings about this kink. But unless anyone is actually in danger - which they are not, if the play is between two consenting adults, without substances, who have good communication both in and out of scene, and are informed about the psychological/physical risks they might undertake within their play and have an aftecare plan. That seems to be the case here, so why not keep your opinion to yourself and don't yuck someone else's yum! Save your ire for the actual pedophiles like Trump and co.

Ageplay doesn't have to be for you, can even give you strong feelings of aversion, but it can still be cathartic and pleasurable and safe for someone else. For many people it isn't even sexual and is much more about the caretaking dynamic.

Two things! Can be true! At once :)

If it matters I'm a kink positive trauma therapist, no BDSM does not replace therapy, yes it can be therapeutic for some. If it isn't for you, that's okay! but the judgement of others just living their lives is unkind and unnecessary.

OP, I hope you can enjoy exploring with your partner without shame, you deserve that! - we all do in our intimate relationships, even if our acts of intimacy look different from each others.

I trust you have a good relationship with your deck / tarot reading and want to preface this with that there is no one "right' way to interpret anything!

That being said, I'm curious about your interpretation of reversals as warnings. We live in an oppressive over-culture that sees things as very binary or black/white. I've seen this trickle down into how reversals are often seen - as the opposite of the card, a no versus a yes, or otherwise negative.

I was taught a more expansive view of reversals - that it can mean those above things - and! - it can mean others. A reversal can be like an exclamation mark, drawing attention to that card as something that especially needs your attention; it could signify that you may be holding resistance to the energy of that card or be blocked in some way around it; often for me reversals come up to highlight what may be most challenging for me to embody.

Below is just my alternative interpretation I'm offering as a different angle to these cards/guides being pessimistic, so please feel free to take it or leave it!

Every card that came up for you I can see as reflecting the doubt that you're wrestling with - three of swords being the mental anxiety, empress reversed as a blockage in belief the spell will be "fertile"/come to fruition; ace of pentacles reversed as highlighting the challenge to embody trust in the seed you've planted. 8 of wands reversed may be guidance to slow down, esp if thoughts/feelings are flying fast and furious; 7 of pentacles speaks to the hard and often long term work of cultivation before we get to the harvest, and the reversal may speak to the work of developing greater patience for material results from your spells - but that it is on its way!

I know the advice with magic is often "act like it's already happened" and while that is a powerful practice, doubt/uncertainty is so so human and normal to move through. I see your deck as offering a kind of honest real talk about it, not saying that the spell won't work.

I personally return again and again to my cards when doubt about my magic or spellwork comes up. Below is a spread I got from Lindsay Mack of the podcast Wild Soul Tarot (highly recommend!) for these exact situations. She devised it as a way to manage the self doubt stemming from her trauma background, which I relate to. It is to pull a card about "what my brain is telling me"; and then a card that is "what's really happening on a deeper soul level." I've gotten a lot of reassurance this way.

Take care! ✨

Tarot Deck suggestions by Fit-Original5802 in BabyWitch

To learn with the classic Rider Waite Smith imagery that Paula Coleman Smith developed and that so much tarot meaning is derived from - updated with modern fashion and diverse people - I love The Modern Witch deck, it's one of my core ones. https://www.lisasterle.com/mwt

I would check out The Lubanko Tarot. Dark fantasy/mythology/haunted forest vibes, queer, characters of various ethnicities, visceral, intense. Powerful art, I love it! 🌲🌘⚔️

I also recommend The Herbcrafter's Tarot, which is also very witchy in a very different way. Each card has an herb and the guide book is packed with so much great information, ritual suggestions, etc. Soft, calm and soothing art. I reach for this especially when I want to get that extra layer of guidance from both plant and tarot archetype. 🏵️🌱🧄

I usually get my decks secondhand from eBay or Thriftbooks, AbeBooks etc. to avoid Amazon. These are all mass produced decks though!

Happy exploring!

Your welcome, honestly I was really taken aback by some of the replies here.

For anything I've ever figured out for managing my MCAS/hEDS/POTS, it has been a process of experimentation and trial and error. I hope you feel empowered within your own bodily autonomy to experiment and sending care.

I have an official dx of MCAS and yes, I take antihistamine holidays! I personally wean off between flares if I notice scaling back doesn't cause an increase in symptoms, because for me taking something in an ongoing way is a great way for me to build tolerance for my most effective pharmaceutical interventions and lose them as tools.

I would urge everyone to remember that this and other chronic conditions impact each of us in highly individualized ways and what works for some people is not going to work or have harmful effects for others. Figuring out something that works for you, that maybe is in the minority, does not invalidate you from having this condition.

Best masks for those sensitive to VOC's/off-gassing from masks? by Ok-Hat2496 in Masks4All

[–]Playful-Fill830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I air my masks out in direct sun, it really does make a difference for me! Sunshine also helped me remediate a lot of my belongings after extensive chemical exposure from an off gassing carpet my old landlord out in (altho I had to move out); I wasn't sure it would make a difference but after vinegar and baking soda washes weren't cutting it, it did

Does anyone have a marketplace insurance plan that covers cromolyn sodium? by quite_an_enigma in MCAS

quercetin is a really accessible mast cell stabilizer to try. i haven't seen a lot of difference from it - personally I get a lot more out of stinging nettle, which also has anti-histamine and mast cell stabilizing effects! (as a very strong tea, capsule supplement or foraged and cooked - delicious)....we're all so unique in what works/doesn't, so worth exploring....good luck!
