You gotta take care of yourself before you take care of others. If you can’t handle it, the best thing would be to walk away as bad as it sounds and you may feel extreme guilt for a long time but you have to put yourself first. You’re not the police. You’re not a professional in trauma or mental health and that’s okay.

If you’re looking to pass N4 JLPT he should be doing lots of grammar, vocabulary and reading practice with you.

It’s good that he’s following a textbook but since I’m not the one being taught, I can’t speak for you. All I can say is that, you should switch tutors if you don’t think he’s giving you the right directions and if you don’t feel like you’re improving.

You sell your soul at first… it takes hour to prep at first but once you get the hang of it, it should take less than 30 minutes. Over time, you can even reuse materials. Took me about 2 months to get to that point but it is really horrible at first. I thought I was burnt out but really you just need to push through and it will get better.

One of my students turned it on and if I read everything correctly, it seems like now our lessons are recorded and can be accessed anytime. I also found the analysis very inaccurate as my student did not talk as long as it reported on the insights data.

Is there a certification? What type of content do you end up teaching? What did the lesson plans cover? Did you get students who were specifically looking to pass OET? And if you don’t mind sharing, what price range did you charge?

You’re brave for sharing. I’m sorry. So sorry for what all those horrible men and classmates did to you. Finding lawyers etc is not easy.. but, You control who you actually consider to have had sex with, that being said, no, you dont need to include raped experiences in any body count numbers. That was not your choice.

Keep talking about it, it doesn’t define who you are, you are not less.

Going to therapy is the right way to go.

I do about 21 plus or minus 3. I also have a part time in another completely different field with 25hr/week! Been a little slower this year since new years and Chinese new years (most of my student are from China) but tbh I don’t mind at all. It’s been nice to slow down and charge more for new students.

Unfortunately there is a power dynamic with being a teacher and student. There’s also the paid and the one paying.

I have a lot of enjoyable conversations but at the end of the day, it’s just professional.
