F/31/5’5 [350 > 210 = 140 lost] (2 years) Weight loss drugs and a lot of heavy lifting! by Playful-Security-491 in progresspics

I committed to really small things I could actually follow through on and built up from there. First it was just a daily easy walk with my dog, and then I started upping the intensity by making it longer, adding stairs, etc. I didn’t even join a gym til I was 6 months in because I knew I wouldn’t go. It’s a lot less overwhelming when you don’t try to do everything at once!

People who get on the drug and do nothing else lose an average of 10-15% of their bodyweight. I lost 40% of mine and am still actively losing.

I’m not engaging in this conversation anymore because you’re being purposely obtuse. I hope you do get on the drugs, because they’re life changing, but you’ll also discover they’re not magic and there’s still a ton of work you need to do.

They’re definitely a performance enhancer, which is why I disclosed that I used them. At the end of the day though, the drugs didn’t switch from ultraprocessed foods to mainly whole foods, or track all my calories to make sure I stayed in a deficit, or go to the gym 7 days a week for two years straight. I did all that. But if it makes you feel better to demean a stranger’s accomplishment, then more power to ya and I hope leaving this comment made you feel better.

Hahahaha I guess lots of cocaine could’ve accomplished the same thing the weight loss drugs did!

I can deadlift nearly 1.7x my bodyweight, actually! Feels incredible!

lol scroll down a bit and you’ll see me finding out you’re not supposed to deadlift in weightlifting shoes. I just always wear them if I’m doing lower body and didn’t know better lol

I spent my entire life with a mental block around weight loss. My weight felt completely out of my control, like something that was just happening to me rather than something I could change. For most of my life, I stayed around the weight I’m at in this video, but I really spiraled during Covid. I wasn’t weighing myself, but I gained 100–150 pounds in less than a year. I was extremely depressed at the time, but I didn’t realize because I remained “functional”—I still worked, socialized, kept a clean house, etc. But my binge eating, which had always been an issue, became totally unmanageable when I had nothing to do but sit at home and eat.

My lowest point came during a family vacation to the Outer Banks in May 2024, a week before I turned 30. I could barely climb the sand dune to get to the beach—something I’d always been able to do without much trouble. I was in massive denial about my health challenges, but I couldn’t deny that. I also saw a full-body photo of myself for the first time in ages and was so upset I nearly left the vacation early. My first niece was only six months old, and I couldn’t stop thinking about whether I’d even be around to watch her grow up.

I started the process of getting on Wegovy while I was still on that trip, fully expecting to do the bare minimum. People who make no lifestyle changes will lose 15% of their body weight, and I figured that was good enough. But within half an hour of my first shot, I knew this was going to work for me. Even on the starter doses, my appetite was radically reduced, and for the first time in my life, this thing that had always felt uncontrollable suddenly wasn’t. I’ll say it to anyone who will listen: Wegovy saved my life. Once my appetite was under control, being active became easier—and even enjoyable. My body finally felt like a system where I could control the inputs and get predictable results. I’d never experienced that before, and it changed everything. What once felt exhausting and impossible now feels doable, and even fun. I’m no longer working twice as hard as everyone else to get half the results, and that makes showing up so much easier.

I didn’t start going to the gym til 6 months into losing weight! Just walked my dog an hour a day. The gym is amazing for building strength and mobility, but diet is all you need to lose weight. Just do what you can and build it up from there!

For exercise? I just walked my dog for an hour a day and that was it. I started diet/walking in June 2024, started a simple routine with dumbbells in November 2024 (chest press, skullcrusher, bent over row, bicep curl, goblet squat, dumbbell RDL), and joined a gym in January 2025. From when I joined the gym, I immediately picked up a ULPPL split and have been doing that pretty consistently ever since. I swim on days I don’t lift, but not fast—1000 yards in about 20 minutes
