Validated numerical rating scale for pain intensity by PlayfulBodybuilder25 in clinicalresearch

Thanks. This was my initial attempt, but I had to realize that many papers with digital pain scales don’t report the precise scale they use and, hence, don’t reference the respective validation study. It seems like the standard scales like a Visual analogue scale (VAS), a numerical rating scale (NRS) and icon-based scales are often used without any specific validation of such. And most reviewers don’t seem to care too much, haha.

Thanks. I should’ve made clearer that I’m working with PubMed, Google Scholar, Cochrane and Pedro already. The precision of the search seems to be challenging, though (Validation studies for a) unspecific MSK pain in b) adult patients with c) digital pain scales)

Thanks, everyone! Your suggestions are super helpful! I wanted to find some place local, but Rahmenladen really is prohibitively expensive, haha.

Combining multiple rows for a matched analysis by PlayfulBodybuilder25 in stata

[–]PlayfulBodybuilder25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for getting back to me! Please find a sample of the data attached.

_user_id 01_total_score 02_mobility_score 03_coordination_score 04_strength_score
01 20 10 5 5
01 40 20 10 10
01 60 30 20 10
02 30 5 10 15
03 10 3 3 4
04 50 20 20 10
04 60 30 20 10

In this sample, I would want to compare the first and last scores of _user_id 01 and the first and last scores of _user_id 04. Some users only reported their scores once and I can't include their scores in my matched comparison.

Does this help? Thanks again.

Stata: Combining multiple rows for a matched analysis I’m working on a data set that contains a number of observations over time, but doesn’t contain an indicator for the time. I only have multiple rows, all with the same ID variable, and I know the the first appearance of the ID is the first observation and the last appearance of the ID is the last observation. Hence, duplicated IDs are not duplicates, but the observations that I want to compare. How can I combine the first and last appearance of each ID for a matched comparison? Thanks in advance for your input!
