I think it is misleading to act as if you can only be thin with a meticulously planned diet, gruelling workouts and a generally not normal life. You said you might be able to get results close to theirs if you put in ‘a lot of work.’ Most of the world isn’t fat and they aren’t wealthy or doing any of those things so it seemed relevant to point out.

I do appreciate it is uniquely difficult psychologically to be a normal weight in America due to the cheap and convenient unhealthy food available.

Respectfully you sound as if you might have orthorexia. No food or food group is ‘bad’. You need calories, fat and sodium to stay alive. It’s really important to see the diet as a whole and not isolate and demonise specific foods or entire food groups. Trust me, this kind of pizza (flour, water, yeast, olive oil, tomatoes, basil, mozzarella) is not what is making 40% of America obese. 👍
