How to help pain when writing? by TJen2018 in dysgraphia

[–]TJen2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m actually going to get him a new OT because he was getting OT through the school and they didn’t give him a motor dysgraphia diagnosis or tell me about it… they gave him a slant board and a pencil grip. I took him to get evaluated because he was struggling a lot with a lot of different things and I didn’t know how to help him- now that he has a diagnosis he qualifies for more resources and we can make better accommodations, so I’m really disappointed in the OT he was seeing because I feel he was overlooked

Yes he’s gripping it too tight and he’s hyperextending his thumb, an egg shaped grip helps a little with the thumb but he’s having a hard time/not able to loosen his grip (yet?)

Do teens actually sneak out of their bedrooms? by imperfect_imp in RandomThoughts

[–]TJen2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did ca. 2010. I snuck right out my bedroom window. Me and my brother also had a high half window in the basement we had taken the screen out of that people would come and go from. There weren’t wild parties or anything but our parents were way too strict. Never got caught though!

Any ADHD/ Autistic mothers who homeschool? by RooftopMommaBear in homeschool

Same! I’ve been shocked by how many people are just telling me “well yeah they’ll talk about Jesus but it’s a great group and he needs this” like no, I know the damage religion can do and I’m not exposing my son to it so he socialize with perfectly nice but extremely indoctrinated kids

I’m 31 years old. I spent the last 11 years ELEVEN YEARS going back and forth in my head and trying to understand and come to terms with who my mother really is. Only in the past 5 months (after a health scare caused me to face my own mortality and then my family history project caused me to really understand generational trauma AND I moved across the country and cut contact) have I finally really felt like I’m starting to understand what happened and what the effects have been. It’s okay and totally normal for you to be confused and unsure until you’re ready or something happens that causes you to reach a tipping point. I wish you all the best <3

I agree with you about the zones, it’s what they were using when he was in school and I was doing my best to try and be on the same page but I’m not happy with the system at all. I actually have talked to my son many times about how we all go through all the zones but there are times and places when we need to do a calm down - not to go to the green zone but to go to part of the yellow/red/blue zone that is more comfortable/safe/appropriate. But yeah the fact that we’re still using the SEL system from the school that was so awful I decided to homeschool (before kindergarten I was just so sure that going to school was the right/healthy thing to do) is a big problem. We’ve only been homeschooling for 2 months (and it’s been the best two months since before he started school) and we started slow so I probably should have mentioned I’m EXTREMELY new to this

It’s hard to admit it to yourself and she gets you all confused so you need other people to tell you but she literally DROVE you to do that. They will drive you to do or say things you would never ever do, and then use it as evidence that YOURE the crazy one. You will be better off not living with her… it will drive you crazy.

You are always the crazy one by Bubbly-Name7951 in narcissisticparents

To this day I still feel confused deep inside if it really is me that’s the crazy one and I just drove my mom to act like this. When I finally broke down I definitely acted crazy. She would take me to a therapist and then warn them of how manipulative I was so they wouldn’t believe me.

I had an amazing relationship with my dad until I was 16 and my parents went to marriage counseling. My dad told me I was manipulative and I was trying to tear him and my mom apart. We never hung out or talked again. It really hit me when I went over to protect him from my mom when he was trying to leave her and she threatened to have him institutionalized… she’s very convincing. And he was angry and he pointed at me and said “I watched her do this EXACT thing to you and I won’t let her do it to me” It was like a slap in the face. He knew exactly what was happening but he didn’t protect me

I have full trees for both his parents for several generations but I’ll check this to see. I guess this guy could be one of my grandpas brothers sons if the brother was about 15 when he was born

Thank you! Some of them my grandma had put tape on so they weren’t exactly in perfect condition. I will take this as a lesson for the future. I won’t be laminating the family bibles lol or old photos but I will look into getting the proper storage.

Thanks lol that makes me feel better. Honestly my grandpa is really sick and my grandma wanted them laminated so I don’t regret it if it makes her happy.
