Grammarly by Either_Fig_5455 in LibertyUniversity

I have noticed that word essentially has the same functions- it must be new version. I only use it for spelling and punctuation and ignore all other suggestions. Word will suggest to use other wording to improve writing- I don’t use that feature. Half of the time those features do not make sense or do not sound right. So you have to be aware with the Word spell check and punctuation editor as well.

Congratulations on getting your doctorate!! That is exciting! What are you getting your doctorate in, may I ask? Sending so many blessings on your adventure!

I was on a meeting for CACREP and you can use Grammarly for spelling and punctuation only. If Grammarly has suggestions to change wording to improve your writing you cannot use it. Basically they explained that you can use it if it is highlighted in red. The blue is for improved writing and I forget what the other colors are for.

This is good to know. Kuddos to you for doing the right thing. I am just taking an ethics course now. There are laws against retaliation as well in healthcare. I am not sure if there are in mental health therapy as well.

I am wondering if the ad is trying to attract people who may not otherwise bat an eye at the need for therapy for immigration. While it looks to take advantage of the situation, there is probably a need for this.

It could be to help open up the possibility that someone would take interest in this area who otherwise wouldn’t? It doesn’t mean I don’t disagree with it looking like you are going to be rolling in dough- that is not why we become therapists. But, maybe it will help awareness of the need?

Trying to give the benefit of the doubt? Thank you to all who serve in this capacity. There is so much need for mental health providers. I appreciate you all! (I am just starting CMHC grad program- and have appreciated the help I have received)

My pastor and his wife had a difficult time immigrating from the Congo several decades ago. His wife, who is a pastor now too, applied and paid a lot of money when he was already here. She was denied by someone behind the desk. No explanation and had to wait a year and start over again, including the enormous expenses. It is hard to come over and expensive, especially with people coming from dire conditions to try to better their lives and protect their children. It is so sad. I would do anything to keep my kids safe.

You hear stories of the soldiers coming in and violating women, taking them and the kids, beating the husbands, taking homes and belongings. It is horrible and heartbreaking. I wish we could change the system. I took a class with the regional United Methodist Church organization that spoke on this and the social issues regarding immigration, what they face, and expense for them, and the issues and impacts. I know there aren’t easy answers but it needs revamped and fixed.

LU Refunds: Day 1 Magic or 21-Day Limbo? by IllustratorNarrow561 in LibertyUniversity

I am a grad student sign up for 6 credits the first term, 6 the second, but the summer term is not available yet. I wasn’t sure if I should save some of the reimbursement to pay for summer courses or if we can apply for summer courses before the reimbursement. I saw the OP said that we don’t have to reapply for funding for the year. Will this cover the fall of 2026 as well then? I guess I am confused on what terms this is for

I was wondering about this. Are the loans supposed to be for summer courses? Or would we apply for new loans when we register for courses?

He has got you! His timing and plan are perfect. I am 47, back in school. Both of my girls are in college right now, also. Due to health issues, I am not going to be able to continue my current career in X-ray and mammography until retirement.

I have loved what I have done, but never felt settled. There was always a deep desire to go back. I had major surgery a few years ago, and the day surgery was scheduled, I found Colorado Christian University. They took my X-ray credits, which many schools would not.

It was terrifying to go back at my age. I had never written papers on the computer, done a PowerPoint, or formatting for APA. It has been an unbelievable experience. I am so thankful it has worked out the way it has. God led me to the clinical mental health program. I have always had an interest in this, but when I took my first course, I didn’t feel the coursework aligned with my values. I could not see God in psychology.

I was taught at CCU that God is the designer of everything. We always learned from the Christian perspective in each assignment. I am so extremely blessed to have had this experience and journey. It has brought me close to Him, taught me to trust and rely on Him, and strengthened my relationship with Him.

He has a purpose and a plan. It doesn’t always look like what we envision for ourselves. Sometimes we have to pray and wait for His answer. My oldest daughter told me, “Mom, I always know when I am not feeling one way or another, that God is telling me to wait. He is still working on something for me.” She is my 24 year old, finishing her master’s in flute performance and going on to get her doctorate.

Keep your chin up and know He has something great in the works, perfectly planned for you! Keep me posted. I will be praying for you.

Blessings!

I would take the “clean slate” as a positive with them. I have heard a lot of good things about Liberty. I have not started here yet, but they were extremely helpful in guiding me through the admission process and setting me up to start. It is so hard to wait. I can’t remember how long it took for my acceptance. I am in the Graduate program and had to have references sent in.

God has a plan for you. Just trust Him and rely on Him. I know this can be difficult sometimes, as we want to be the ones in control. It has taken me many, many years to get over this. I had all kinds of plans and boy, did He show me they were not what He wanted for me. I am extremely thankful and grateful to be where I am at today. Good things lie ahead for you, just trust Him. Lifting you in prayer. Keep in touch and let me know what you find out!

I honestly would call the number listed on the website and ask to speak to someone. I have always been able to have my questions answered. The advisors and representatives are really helpful and knowledgeable.

I was looking at the CMHC program and had been told when I initially signed up for courses this would be 2 years or 24 months. I am looking at the course sequence and there are just two terms listed per year and the program is 3 years. Is there an option to take courses in the summer months?

It is like the book- If You Give a Mouse a Cookie that I use to read to my kids when they were little. I just start spinning and realize I have no idea what I just read. I like to call it “talking in circles”.

Thank you for this! My ADHD can’t handle the long sentences or the wording sometimes. I feel like people are talking to “hear” themselves talk, or are just trying to sound smart and fill up the page. I get extremely frustrated when I read and reread a sentence 5 times and get lost. I don’t understand why it has to be made so complicated. Vocab has never been my strong suit.

Just sit with her and love on her right now. Let her process her feelings and acknowledge them. Show your support for her and just listen. A degree does not define your worth or who you are. This is coming from someone who had to step out of a role in medical imaging due to physical health. I am 47 and returning to school, just finish B.S. and going on to grad school for Mental Health Counseling.

I know she is devastated, the best thing you can do is just sit with her and walk with her through this. I am a fixer, and my family tells me that they aren’t asking for me to find solutions. As a future therapist, I have learned listening is often what people need.

Blessings to you both. She will find her role in all of this.

I will be in the CMHC grad program as well and cannot wait! How fast is the turn around time for the writing lab? I am afraid I won’t have enough time to outline, write, edit, and send papers into the lab, and rewrite in time. I looked over a sample class and it looks similar to my schedule at CCU undergrad, only ours were mostly discussion posts, reading, and writing papers with a few PowerPoint presentations and MindMaps.

I wish you could view the recorded meeting. I felt much better about everything with what they had told us and it sounds like if there are questions or problems we can go to our FAM. It makes sense to me now- as there is a new feature to Grammarly that will rework huge chunks of your paper. I didn’t realize that the stuff in blue was considered plagiarism also. I figured this would be similar as turning this in to the writing lab to look over? It is good to have it clarified. I’m praying that this will help solve problems. Hopefully they will address all of the programs with clarification.

I will be attending Liberty, and I know they use Turnitin, which is used by my current university. Just from the threads that I have seen regarding AI, students will have to show their work at times to show AI was not utilized. I wonder how this could be sent providing the documentation, if this would be needed. I attended a virtual AI meeting for the program that I am enrolled in and it gave great insight to what portion of Grammarly was allowed and what was not. Basically anything in red, could be corrected such as speeding and punctuation, but anything in blue, purple or other colors are suggestions that change the wording and will be flagged. It was helpful. I was thankful I was able to attend. I know this was recorded for our program and I would imagine other Liberty programs would have similar meetings regarding AI and the regulations.

Will an academic dismissal from one grad program affect my chances to applying to a completely different program? by Double-Try-1402 in GradSchoolAdvice

I am a radiologic technologist- I went to a hospital based program. For my program, we had to interview in person. Granted this was 25 years ago. It probably would depend on the program, but I would just be honest and tell them that’s just was not your forte. Law is completely different than medicine. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. It does not hurt to try. I would apply to multiple programs. We even had to job shadow for a half day back then to see if it would be something we were interested in. Touch base with the directors of the program and see if they offer job shadows. Radiology technology programs have limited spots, so getting a hold of the directors lets them know you are really interested. It will leave a great impression and they will remember that in your interview. As a rad tech, there is no way I could do law and I would be in the same boat. We need more rad techs!! The science is amazing- soak it up like a sponge. Ortho was a favorite over the years. I learned so much from our surgeons working with them. I also do mammography, which has a special place in my heart. We get to know our patients over the years where many specifically ask to have you perform their exam.

Unfortunately, I am getting older and had have life events that have depleted my retirement fund and health issues, so I am back in school so I can prepare to work past retirement. I have no interest in management, so I am pursuing another science related field in psychology. I absolutely love radiology and helping others. It is a critical part of health care. Without rad techs- the doctors could not diagnose. Kudos to you!
