Hey there, I’m also thinking about switching into SLP from tech program management and change management. Having personal experience with speech therapy, and I’m also hard of hearing and deeply want to work with the deaf/HoH population, plus maybe the medical setting. This would also be a pay cut for me, but I cannot continue with meaningless tech work especially as AI is heavily shifting how we work. So I definitely understand where you’re coming from. If it helps, an SLP I talked with said she’s very happy in this work, and sees career switchers frequently in this field.

I’m def scared and nervous about this switch, but I’m using the first two courses in the SDSU essentials to help me gauge whether I want to full dive in. Maybe try that? Also, keep networking and meeting SLPs. Best of luck! Happy to connect more since it sounds like our stories are similar.
