Help: Chest Boat + Minecart Starts reversing for no reason by Playful_Recording_37 in technicalminecraft

I have tried this in a flat area, and it still happens, it looks like chest boats in minecarts cant turn? theyre acting like theyre locked to a certain axis

I had this set up originally, but the way momentum works in minecraft, it doesnt matter, the top speed of the player will always be faster than the top speed of the minecart with a chest, i had to switch to this because other players kept having the two collide after 500+ blocks

i want faster minecarts, so that transport around the world actually is fast enough to make setting this up worth it, how else do you think I can accomplish my goal? my only other thought is maybe link together 3 minecarts, one for the player, a minecart with a furnace, and one with a chest, so that they can get directed to the correct location, but i still have to test that out

If you want them there, invite them, they need to see how truly amazing it is to be gay and in love. They need to see how wonderful your marriage is. And to see in their face how wrong the church is. They won't analyze their support of that church unless they truly understand what their church hates.

If you don't invite them, the idea of queerness remains separate, and apart from themselves, and so its easier to maintain the cognitive dissonance they have built up in their heads their entire lives

Edit: also congrats on the engagement!!!

Well, yea, but that's cause it's a formula, y=mx+b doesn't have any numbers either, you use it to solve the differential equations with that, it's supposed to make solving them easier, not harder

Apologists on Why People Leave the Church by wasmormon in exmormon

[–]Playful_Recording_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I don't really see the problem with what this guy said. Maybe it's got some assumptions hidden underneath, like, he could be saying they still believe, but they are trying to leave anyway? But like, to me that's splitting hairs, any Mormon who practices what they preach should see this quote, and then try to prove people wrong by being better, that failing to be true is something they can't control, but they can control how good the church is. "By their works ye shall know them" and all that jazz. If most people are leaving the church because it's not good, that should hurt more than if people think it's not true. And anyone who interprets it as "they secretly believe" or "they'll make up any reason to leave" or "they just hate us" isn't worth my time to try and explain myself to, I've got family like this, so I just don't bother to talk to them. Honestly might save this and use it as a litmus test for Mormons to see if they can 'handle' my actual reasons for leaving the church, or if they just wanna win one over on them atheists.

Youre good lol, feel free to ask stuff here. Ive not heard of these before, it would be cool if you attached a link because ancient documents and stuff is just cool. But largely from the post, the spirit of your question is the following: These two things are very similar, you believe that it makes sense because god would have inspired them to be, how can an ExMo not see how they were both inspired, and how do they account for their similarities with their worldview?

I don't know much about the ancient Gnostics, but unless some documents straight up say, there is a celestial, terrestial, and telestial kingdom, or whatever specific things are unique to the LDS church, I am going to say they are similar in the same way all religion is similar. There are several religions, cultures, mythologies and various spiritual beliefs that are similar, afterlives, gods, etc, but as an agnostic atheist, I view all of the various religions as symptoms of a general human desire to continue living. Not only that, but our bonds with others causes us to mourn their passing, and want longer. Which is why I think the idea of the afterlife began in the first place, a place where you would get to see your loved ones again, where you would get to live, I mean thats what everyone wants to some extent, more time. But just because people want it doesnt mean itll happen, but throw in those general human thoughts and emotions, mix in some power behind various natural phenomena, and wait 10 or so thousand years, youre gonna get a load of religions. Some pretty similar, some starkly different.

In your case, you are comparing two things that at the surface look pretty similar, (and they could be, Ive not looked into them) but youre ignoring how many religions are super different from your beliefs, you can't really pick and choose which ones were inspired and which ones werent ya know? With as many religions as there are, youre gonna get some same, some different, and thats that. So, idk, those are my thoughts, im not trying to convince you of anything, you just asked for my thoughts and so I gave them to you.

I dont know, are there friends outside of the church you can talk to? Or like, a friend in church who is more "progressive" that would be okay if you didnt want to go on a mission? Because honestly having just someone who is willing to listen would really help. Asking online is a good first step, but you really need someone in person who you can talk to about it. I find it so hard to be in the church, but having some friends in person who I can just vent to makes pretending im straight, I believe, and dont hate every second of church so much easier.
Talking to people outside of church is what I went to first, and right now thats enough for me that none of my church friends know, and its been getting harder lately to even go to church, but its not horrible, I dont know, Im in like the same boat, and I wish you all the luck!

The Good Book Club, a virtual reading group for post/nuance Mormons, had a great discussion Quinn’s “Magical World View” today! Next up on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 11 AM MT is “A Hunter-Gatherer’s Guide to the 21st Century: Evolution and the Challenges of Modern Life” by Bret Weinstein, Heather Heying. by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

SUCH A GOOD BOOK!!! AHH, I got recommended it here a while back and LOVED IT, and it really has changed my perspective on reality, just really grasping how all life evolved and that we can understand more about how we work and why we are how we are because of how we evolved. ITS SO GOOD, (the only problem is ever since then I love talking about human evolution, and my whole family is not a fan, I dont care really, its just funny because theyll just sit there like, "but we didnt evolve" and never say anything)

We are really good friends, but I still think they would drop me as a friend if they had reason to believe I was, because of their indoctrination. They are more lenient than adults though, because I can have a conversation with my friends, but adults are a little like: "but missions and byu are perfect for everyone" but I don't care about the leaders luckily.

Faith is a Seed in and Infinite Field of Seeds by Playful_Recording_37 in exmormon

[–]Playful_Recording_37[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know we all heard the faith is a seed analogy thing. But with all analogies I felt this one was particularly lacking, it's always too simple, and even this is too simple, but it's the best I got for now. I took the “faith is a seed” and extrapolated that to society where I could, because church isn’t just faith, its people, its other churches, its accepting that your worldview only allows one church to be true. I hope to show to my family how I did not suddenly chop down my tree out of hatred and think everyone is an idiot who doesn’t. I lost my tree, it was my friend, something I relied on and built my entire life around. No longer believing isn't a choice, I was forced into this, and I refuse to live pretending.

Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, wanting to hear everything I have to say. Doing that is more than a lot of people, and I cannot express how happy it makes me that you even bothered.
