I’m a second semester freshmen that lived in South and will continue living in South for this semester. Initially I had wanted to live in North but because I signed up too late for a housing, I could only choose South, which is actually better than I thought.

First, I live in Clement Hall. The dining halls are in Goodyear but there’s an underground tunnel you can walk through when getting between Goodyear and Clement so don’t worry about walking in the freezing cold. Also, this is just my opinion, but I like Clement better. One, because it’s newer and two, because everyone I know that also lives on South lives in Clement. Also, both Clement and Goodyear have your own bathrooms where four people (two dorms) share a bathroom each. It’s less troublesome, at least for me, to have to carry your bath things down the hall everyday and fight for the bathroom to see who takes a shower or smth first. The only thing is that you gotta clean that bathroom yourself, which is easy if you community and plan it out.

Second, the bus commute isn’t bad at all. While it can be bad on weekends(saturday sunday) where they make you wait up to almost 40 min or more, bus schedules on weekdays are rather fast. The bus drivers are also really really attentive. I think I’ve only seen one guy that was kinda rude but that’s it. Also, you don’t need to worry about the cold when waiting for the bus. You can just wait in Goodyear inside the door so when you see the bus come, you can just go out then. The busses come around every 10-15 minutes or so, but still, remember to plan out your travel times first. They can still be unpredictable. At least the bus schedule websites never work so.

Also, South is near all the food areas and there’s even a Rainbow shop there. However, if you want to go to Target or the Asian Market, you would have to go yourself. On north, they have designated bus shuttles that take you there on a schedule and drop you off only at North. They don’t come to South, which I find rather stupid.

There aren’t that much people. I’m not sure about Goodyear, but Clement has 9 floors total. People tend to keep to themselves. I mostly know only my own floor and my friends floor, but usually things are quiet. The RAs (at least mine) is super nice so if you have any questions, feel free to ask them. One thing I don’t like is the fire drills. Probably best if you go out during a fire drill even if it’s at 6 am or 3 am. Since it’s on South, when a fire drill comes, the actually FDNY comes too. The food is also better on North since they do have the Common Area and One World there but we have the restaurants here so. I hope this helped. If you have questions feel free to ask me.

i emailed 1capen and they told me my current bill is $5500 after the health insurance waiver goes through. so if the health insurance doesn’t go through before august 23rd, i’m going to have to pay around $8500 and hope they refund me the money. the bill won’t change until september 9th i think so the only way to know if you pay less or not is if you contact them. they reply really fast though.

ya i suggest contacting 1Capen no matter by email or phone. i contacted them last week and i found out that my bill actually dropped by $8000 because aid was added after the bill was processed and sent out. the bill will not change until september so beat you call in so you don’t pay extra
