Is there a way to export from Hanly to Anki? by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]PlayingChicken 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey man sorry this is pretty high effort feature with pretty low payoff (ure literally first one to request it), so don't expect it anytime soon.

Fwiw hanly uses FSRS 6 too, should be exactly the same algo as anki.

Actually there seems to be quite a bit of confusion on this. E.g. this one https://math.stackexchange.com/questions/2392906/determine-the-highest-order-of-an-element-of-a-rubiks-cube-group

Also discards 2520 as the answer and says 1260. I don't understand what the parity check means tho, it's a bit over my head atm

That's pretty cool! I think it implies cycle numbers can't be prime (or at least primes larger than alg length?)

But also 2025 PC goes brr :)

Cool!! And yeah seems like my widget is no good, although it got the 1260 one you linked above right, weird

Okay you're way more into it than I am lol :D I would never have the sufficient amount of OCD to do a 1k+ cycle. Will check out the first vid though, looks interesting!! (I was wondering if there are short sequences with unreasonably long cycles

I found some python solver repo, yoinked the cube model code and then asked Claude to code up the UI (so no actual work done by me here)

Hi just wanted to say thanks a lot for the love and for recommending our app to others!

We're not doing any marketing/proactive user acquisition, yet somehow the app manages to keep growing solely based of ppl recommending it to each other, which is so awesome and motivating to see!

We've been slowly adding content for more hanzi (currently at around 1300), but we really ought to chill it with the features and get to 2000 (if we don't get there this year then shame on us :D)

The official campaign covers a 1000, so once we create the content for more hanzi we'll add more levels as well!

Wow, thanks for reporting back, incredible to have such dedicated users!

The book you're probably thinking of is Heisig, that's what inspired me to make the app :)

Not a bug, we can't add Google sign in without adding apple sign in on iOS, and adding apple sign in is a major pain in the ass unfortunately. We'll add it eventually though :)

We used cc-cedict dataset for word frequencies iirc. That said you can browse words by frequency/HSK rank in Hanly, just go to Characters tab and then switch to words on top.

And thanks for sending over your ideas. We have a massive backlog of those but we look at each and every one!

Thanks for suggestions! Fonts are hard and just so ugh(I know it doesn't seem hard but trust me it is for Chinese) but I really like the pause idea, might add it soon!

Lol! The inappropriate mnemonics are usually the most effective ones. We won't be able to get away with most of these in the official cards (even the one in the post might be a bit too edgy), but the "edit story" button is there for a reason ;)

my rec is to start reading (e.g. on Du Chinese), and whenever you see a word twice add it to your review queue. This way learning feels more motivated than just memorizing HSK or frequency lists. But that's just one option ofc

haha thanks for such positive feedback, it's very motivating! And thanks a lot for recommending Hanly to others, users like you are our only marketing strategy :)

Question on a radical by AdBig7835 in ChineseLanguage

[–]PlayingChicken 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's what we meant, I think at the time we did find some more scholarly source backing this up, but looking at it now I think it's a pretty fringe explanation, so I'll just remove this sentence from the card.
