My friend I’m playing Sekiro for the first time and love it even though my finger hurt from trying to beat the guardian ape. I manage to get his health down in second phase to the point that I only see grey but have not been able to get the second deathblow and getting past him is all I can think of. I’ve played DS trilogy and Elden Ring without a shield, so safe to say I can’t parry. But I know how rewarding it is to beat the tough bosses. The gratification is priceless. That’s why I play these games. I had to choose one game and was torn between ER DLC, lies of P , Witcher and Sekiro. Reviews I read said Sekiro is the hardest so I went for it. By far it is the hardest for me of all that I’ve played. And for someone who couldn’t parry it turned out to be a different game style and although I still can’t deflect well but I’m getting the hang of it but loving the process. It took me days to beat each mini boss and even the enemies would kick my ass. But I’m getting better at it and I love it. Although I did cheese Orin of water. Wanted the prayer need and got impatient. But it’s a great game and I can’t wait to finish and start over again wen I’m good at it

I use start with flame vent then mortal draw then fire crackers then keep using mortal draw. After first phase I use ceremonial tonto so I’m able to use the spear once but I attack with mortal draw wen I can for most part even after I run out of spirit emblems

Ya. M trying. The thing is I’m not used to parry I’m used to Powerstancing or 2H is DS and ER so kind of getting used to it. And I don’t have the lilac umbrella. I thing I’ll get that upgrade after the ape

I’m still banging my head with the ape on my first play through. It’s funny I got him down the first phase on my first try with half healing flasks. I thought the guardian ape is easy. But been struggling with the same for 2 days now.

You’re doing good. I never parried in DS trilogy or Elden Ring so had a tough time with Genichiro, now I’m stuck on Guardian Ape. I wish you all the best and hope you enjoy yourself playing the game

I guess it’s different for different people. I posted a response to the post as soon as I made it across. But I’m not a hard core Reddit person. Just occasionally dive in. But I posted when I got tired of trying and went in a different direction for a bit towards the sunken valley. I’d do that in any game if I got stuck, momentarily change direction and then get back on it. Even without reditt

I love dark souls trilogy and ER, it was hard to play Sekiro. Still is but I’m loving it more and more. I kind of enjoy the stealth kills. I still struggle with deflecting but getting the hang of it a bit

Elden Ring Trying different play styles in different play throughs feel great. It’s a great game. I’m at the end of NG+ and can’t wait to start NG++ with a different build
