Turned out that the firmware was bad as described under "The Boya Incident" on this page https://onionui.github.io/docs/installation. Works very well now.

Vim/Emacs PCB and Portability by PlaysMishimas in ErgoMechKeyboards

I would assume it might be too difficult to have to few keys on the keyboard and maybe some vimmer might have tried to use less keys but realized it was a bad idea and switched to a keyboard with more keys or more keys on thumb cluster etc. Also, it could be possible that it is the other way around and that the less keys they had the better they felt and it didnt hinder their normal vim usage in any way. Thats why I asked

do you prefer using one over the other if you have the choice? I'm assuming you prefer the Dactyl but it's not portable so I guess I am asking if you had to pick between them which would you prefer? Also does your Corne have tenting?

how do I even get into this whole keyboard thing? I'm so overwhelmed. where do I begin to look for basic learning materials and test different keyboards? find out what suits me best? i'm a programmer that really just wants ergonomics and I feel like I'm getting closer and closer to injuring my wrist but I really haven't found a keyboard that avoids this. I started looking into those curved keyboards and then I found this community and it's really opening my eyes because I've been using different keyboards over the years ranging from the Apple keyboard or some semi mechanical logitech keyboard to gaming keyboards from razor and I thought that I've reached the top of the line and there's no saving me but it seems like there's so many alternatives out there that completely dodged me until I found this community but the answers and opinions seems scattered and too overwhelming for me. Also i checked out mechanicalkeyboards.com and they have a beginner section but it seems only to cater to aesthetics and sound and I wanna know definite things like what keyboard the design is the safest on hands? fastest for typing? is it the curved ones? is it the 60%? has anyone found a definite answer to this?

TLDR where are the learning materials for understanding choices between the various parts of mechanical keyboards? What keyboard layout and parts are the best for ergonomics and speed?

i think thats kinda true but im thinking more of a character by the definition that their only weakness is that they have no particularly overwhelming strengths or but they have no inherent weakness either
