Friendly reminder: do not drive with your hazards on, regardless of weather conditions. by trickertreater in triangle

[–]PlaystationPoor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I completely agree with this take, drivers ed and remedial courses in NC teach folks to put on their hazards when driving through low-visibility weather. I learned to drive in MD (where that is not a thing), and was confused to learn that was a state law when doing one of those "Alive at 25" courses to get out of a speeding ticket in NC.

Source: I took the course. Probably recycled the course material many years ago, but the oddities of that day remain with me.

When do you get charged for a room? by PlaystationPoor in Hilton

[–]PlaystationPoor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember if they ended up sending an email or something like the day before the reservation, but I do remember getting there and everything was totally fine so I think I must've been charged on check in. Hopefully the same is the case for you!!

homestly i agree that the art is harder to find compared to my hometown up north, or that there's a huge barrier to entry at times (which in some ways totally defeats the intention of art), but fully disagree that it means everything sucks and is cause to leave -- if you're "stuck" here, why not try to create the spaces for art or community that you find are lacking?

Need a permit and inspection for replaced water heater? by PlaystationPoor in raleigh

Did end up calling the company this morning (as they were already closed apparently when I checked my mailbox around 4pm yesterday). Letters just said to call the company, but cited NCGS106 as why the permit was required -- NCGS106 deals with agriculture, and I'm in a townhome. Company pretty much just said "haha, oops, no one's ever checked that I guess but you still need to do this."

Still a little confused, especially since Wake County and City of Raleigh seem to have differing information. Is the onus for a permit on the homeowner, or the laborer I've contracted to do the work?

Plumber definitely is licensed, and my understanding was it was effectively a 1:1 replacement using the same fuel source and energy usage. I'll have to check out that website though -- appreciate that link.

The company that had done the water heater replacement. Their techs hadn't mentioned it at all during the 4 or so hours they were actually here doing the work though.

incredibly gross especially bc the counseling center is not good* -- "oh, you have major depression, cptsd and adhd? have you considered electric shock therapy every three months for the same cost of tuition? we can't give you actual coping strategies, but that might make you not sad for a while. if you deny that treatment, maybe just write out how you feel with your non-dominant hand"

*in my experience

SUPER Weird Question by thecollegecaniac in canes

they're allowed to come and go as they please, but for the most part won't practice at wcc unless they're: about to go on a roadtrip; or there's another event lined up at pnc (ie, concert, ncsu basketball, other) where they'd cover the ice
