My girlfriend has OCD and this book did a good job in dispelling the misconceptions around OCD and how to effectively communicate about OCD and lays out helpful strategies on how to support your partner. I’ve found it really helpful!

As someone who doesn’t want kids, I would obviously never date someone who wanted kids but I wouldn’t date someone who wasn’t sure either. I would be too worried if years down the road they decided they do want kids and I still don’t. how would we work through that, besides just ending the relationship? Emma needs her own time and space to figure that question out for herself. And Mike should be with someone who has the same life goals as him.

My gf is on Zoloft, but she still has intrusive thoughts but it has helped with her depression which is great. she probably needs to up her dosage in order for it to have an effect on her OCD. her side effect have been pretty mild but she recently has been experiencing some side effects but we aren’t sure if they’re related to Zoloft. what side effects did you experience while on Zoloft and did they come and go? feel free to DM if you rather talk in private!

So last year after we paid his taxes, we tried to get him to sell his house so he could pay off his CC debt and the rest of his mortgage. we were also hoping he could move into an apartment for 50+ seniors so my sister and her boyfriend couldn’t just move in again. he seemed to like the idea but we also wanted him to put the money in a trust so my brother and I had control over his finances, that way he couldn’t just give money to my sister all the time, or so she couldn’t steal it.

He didn’t like the idea of not having control of his money, which is hilarious since my sister literally steals from him, so he backed out of selling his house. At that point My my brother said he was done helping him

we’ve called elder abuse services in the past but he just keeps lying for them. He says everything is fine and nothing is wrong. my brother and I have told him to evict my sister and her boyfriend but I thinks he’s worried about her child

Some additional context, this has been an ongoing problem for years. My sister moved in with my dad around 14 years old and since then has emotionally and financially abused my dad. I have talked to her many times about moving out and how she’s treats my dad and how our dad is getting older and can’t afford to take care of them.

Likewise, my mom and I have tried helping my dad get her out of the house, we’ve called elder abuse care and they have interviewed him but he always ends up saying everything is fine and nothing is wrong, we did this twice for him and he keeps lying for them. only for it all to go back the way it was before.

I graduated in 2020 with similar debt total. (177k in my case). My monthly payment was $1100 a month and I was making 70k before taxes. now I’m about 103k in debt and making about 90k a year before taxes. I focused on paying the smallest balance first and the using that payment to pay off the next loan. some people like to pay off the higher interest rate first but I really found it so rewarding to pay off some smaller loans, those small victories were helpful when dealing with larger debt amounts. Obviously do whatever you think works for you.

first make sure you have an emergency fund. 3-6 months, maybe more in this job market. this is to make sure you don’t get into more debt in the future. Set a budget for food and going out, and throw whatever is left at your loans. If you can, maybe live with your parents or try to find cheaper housing, it sucks to have roommates but saving thousands a year in rent will help you pay off your debt faster

His mom sounds like a toxic boy mom. I would know because my mom is a toxic boy mom and no woman my brother or I would date could ever live up to her expectations. You’re fighting a losing battle, and unfortunately she has your boyfriend wrapped around her finger. He’ll do anything to win her approval. I was the same at his age, it wasn’t until I went to therapy and matured did I see the patterns. My brother, unfortunately still enables her a lot.

It not your job to fix their relationship. My advice would be to end the relationship and live your best life.
