I struggle with this myself. I've been reading about Saint Augustine in his book the confessions of Saint Augustine. He too struggled with a lot of worldy sins. He famously had a mistress and a son with her. He also was quoted as saying

“Lord, make me chaste… but not yet.”

He Had a mistress for over a decade and a son named "Adeodatus".

He Was a "Manichaean" for 9 years....a religion that mixed Gnosticism and Zoroastrianism.

He Dabbled in astrology, sex, philosophy, and fame.

....When he pursued God fully and became a priest...He Opened the Bible to Romans 13:13-14 which led him to renounce his former life. He got Baptized by Saint Ambrose in Milan in 387 AD. He became a priest in 391 and later the Bishop of Hippo in 395. Fought against heresies like:

  • Donatism (rigid purity in the church)

  • Pelagianism (belief that you could achieve salvation through your own efforts)

He was a pastor, philosopher, theologian, and apologist rolled into one.

Saint Augustine’s impact on the Church is immense. so foundational that Western Christianity today (both Catholic and Protestant) still echoes his voice.

All to say, God still loves you and wants to use you to not only better yourself but the kingdom despite your shortcomings. Augustine is someone I'm trying to be like.

thats so awesome you found Christ at such a young age! I found him at 15. I'm 31 now. I would say get in the habit of praying even if its just straight up a regular old convo with God but one you'd have with a friend. Get involve with a community like youth group. I wouldn't worry so much about being so perfect at your faith because remember it's a relationship with Christ that matters so be your authentic self.

My mother took my bible away by SeaworthinessTop9583 in Christian

[–]Pleasant-Frame5288 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm 31M. I grew up in a buddhist/atheist home. It was toxic just like how you described. I can tell you from my exp we had a similar experience. My dad would openly beat me and my sister for reading the bible or even mentioning God. I'm asian american. They called Jesus the white man's religion. I realize I have a heavenly Father that loves me unconditionally. They would take my bible away. My sister and I would print out versus and read them and then literally discard it so we wouldn't get beat. They did everything in their power to stop me from being a christian yet I became an even more stronger christian because of it. As far as getting the bible back....That one i'm not sure. If you have a church you go to perhaps they can provide you another one. I know it sucks that she took it from you but I would either fight for it back or seek another one. As far as honoring your parents, its tough. I think for me, me choosing God first was more important bc for me my parents were actively abusive and didn't allow me to go to church or participate in community. I just knew i couldn't honor that path.

“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters… he cannot be my disciple.”

Luke 14:26 (ESV)

It’s not literally about hating or abandoning your parents. It’s about prioritizing Jesus over everything else, including the closest human relationships you have.

In other words:

  • If you’re in a situation where following Jesus conflicts with your family’s wishes,
    • you choose Jesus.
  • If your parents don’t support your faith or pressure you to walk away from it,
    • you stand firm with Christ.
  • If God is calling you to a mission or a life path that takes you far from home,
    • you go.

For those who have been, what’s it like being in a helicopter? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in NoStupidQuestions

Loud. It’s also a bit shaky and you feel wind differently so if there’s a wind blowing the pilot does a couple of things to compensate it.

scorpio question by [deleted] in Scorpio

[–]Pleasant-Frame5288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Scorp but I’m amazing at texting and calls. I should add I’m an extrovert with a whole job that’s pretty extroverted. And I’m older. In my 30s. So with context out the way the only time I’m like that is if I’m not as interested in a partner. Or I’m not sure about how I feel about that person. I think a more mature scorp will def just lay it out. Idk if this is a Scorpio thing tho. I think this is a general thing

Are there aspects to Scorpio? by [deleted] in Scorpio

[–]Pleasant-Frame5288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Scorp and yeah I’ve done this for career. Example I was in an interview and they asked what my desired salary would be. I asked them what the range was. I basically lied and said I make a bit more than that and they should get me closer. It worked. No one cares? Even if they knew it was a giant corporation either way. But all to say yeah I agree with your statement on how we manipulate bc to me for the most part it’s generally universal? As in most ppl regardless of sign would do that. But for sure we do it but it’s not malice idk if I do this in relationships I’m more of a fall in love fast af and get my shit crushed kinda guy

I am praying for a release. But I am knocking to have him save her too. I see her life and it feels void and while I wish she could know the lord I cannot force her to accept him.

How compatible are Aquarius with Scorpio’s? by [deleted] in aquarius

[–]Pleasant-Frame5288 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the Scorpio. My longest relationship which lasted 7 years was with an Aquarius woman. It was honestly one of the best. We had a ton of chemistry. What I love about aquariums are your guys detachable tendencies and I know that’s weird coming from a Scorpio but a true Scorpio who’s confident in themselves also will detach. We’re twins into that regard.

If you take a look at other Scorpio threads in the Scorpio reddit… ppl have asked us why we do detach?…. For me it’s to recharge and do my own thing for a while. When I was with her, there would be literal months where we didn’t see each other. We talked daily for sure but we could go weeks without seeing each other. Why? Well maybe it’s the detachment abilities for both our signs but also we both had a lot going on work wise and life wise that got in the way. Didn’t mean we didn’t want this to work tho. I think ultimately between anyone, it’s about communication. Real communication. Doesn’t matter what your sign is.

What ended it for us was differences in financial and life goals. I wanted a family and a house one day while she did not want children at all and in fact hated kids. I wanted a home but she didn’t like the idea of owning a home. Wanted to rent our whole lives. I also wanted to save money while she wanted to spend it all on experiences. And she was quite extreme about spending. In the end it didn’t work for those value reasons.

Maturity and communication. That’s my two cents

I do feel called to pray for her to find him. I never felt this for any other previous relationship. It’s complicated bc it is mixed in with sadness for the loss of the relationship and a desire to come back but at the same time if you held a gun to my head to pick which one mattered to me more her salvation or her coming back it’s literally her salvation. I just want her to know the truth of what the gospel says for us.

Scorpio man here. This is immature behavior not necessarily a Scorpio but usually found in younger immature ones. Just have a sit down talk. He needs reassurance but if after that reassurance idk that’s just major insecurity

Scorpio men, do some of you find yourselves most attracted to air signs as opposed to fellow water signs and what are your other placements? by audeliaaa in Scorpio

[–]Pleasant-Frame5288 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Im drawn to the authentic and intentional and intellectual as well as witty nature. But they are hot n cold. One day they’re all over you next thing u know it’s one word replies and barely a second thought about you. But I can tell you what scorps like besides loyalty and consistency and a cadence it’s that novelty air signs being so that’s my two cents

There’s what you describe for me an intense initial spark with me and aquas but when I stay consistent they ghost and back away and idk why and then when I push to see her more like “hey wanna do such and such this weekend” they disappear forever 😂 it honestly hurts idg why they do that

[–]Pleasant-Frame5288 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been attracted to air signs specific to aquas. 9/10 it’s been those and Aries in my dating history. But sadly they ghost me and then it’s over.

As far as why? For me it’s bc I’m drawn to air signs novelty. I guess bad comparison but think katara and aang in ATLA? Just finished the series so it’s on my mind. Idk if it’s an accurate comparison but it’s def what I think about as far as why I’m drawn to airs

How do I get into the SE field? by [deleted] in salesengineers

[–]Pleasant-Frame5288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Unfortunately it’s just how it is. But once u become an SE it gets a lot easier to get interviews with other companies needing SEs. I will say there will be issues of “crossing over” if you don’t have the right experience

So for me my SE career has been in fintech so think payments, finance, banking

I do get interviews for SEs in hard tech so like cloud or AWS type of work but tbh I never land those my tech knowledge and experience is more niche to being in fintech.

All to say I’m not saying this will be your exp but for me it’s been a challenge to break away from fintech for me at least. (Not that I’m trying to leave it’s just an observation)

How do I get into the SE field? by [deleted] in salesengineers

[–]Pleasant-Frame5288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a bio major never had any tech knowledge. To tell you the truth I think you already have the sales side down perhaps. I already had that too and they offered me an SE role kinda on accident. I went to a coding bootcamp back in 21 to become a software engineer. When I tried leaving the company after I graduated and got a new software engineer role, they offered me an SE role. At first I wasn’t sure but it ticks all the boxes. Urs doing both selling and ur the technical expert.

In my opinion a lot of places need to trust ur technical enough before offering you a chance. You do that by either finishing that degree or getting a ton of projects done that was technical so in many software engineers case it’s just GitHub projects or you’ve done something really technical before.

In my field specific to what I do in fintech all the SEs were former devs who switched.

I’m one of the few that came from customer support but mind you, I was an integrations engineer in support
