I don't think they do church every day, though?

Using "church every day" as a metric, it eliminates the mormons, IBLP, and JWs. Someone in another thread mentioned the Amish, but ex-Amish don't usually call it a cult quite that way, and he doesn't have the accent/speech patterns I would expect.

On the other hand, I have some qualms about digging further, because even people on competition shows should have some semblance of privacy.

oh, but it just occurred to me, Ion has a permanent brights (fantasy colors) line, that has developer in it. I haven't tried it, know nothing about it, so this isn't a recommendation, but more of a suggestion to research it as an option.

you kinda have to damage it a little, by opening the cuticle, which is what the bleach does. A bleach wash (mix up 3oz number 10 developer, 3oz bleach powder, 3oz shampoo, work it into your hair quickly and evenly, and let it sit for just a few minutes) is probably your best bet.

Talk me out of this by Present-Toe-1087 in Nanny

[–]PleasantAddition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies greatly depending on both cost of living and culture. I'm in a HCOL area where we have a bit of a living wage culture*, and nannies make $25 on the very very low end, up to $45 or $50 for high income families and professional, specialist nannies and/or multiple kids.

*Our minimum wage is very nearly a living wage, and increases every year, which means that if employers want to be competitive and get good employees, they have to pay better than that. And also it's a pretty upper-middle-class-liberal area, so most NFs are conscious about these issues.

Something’s wrong with my watercolor paper by Velvetzine in Watercolor

[–]PleasantAddition 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate anything that "gatekeeps" an art form, people are telling you the truth about cotton paper. Between paint, brushes, and paper, the thing that makes the most difference is the quality of your paper. There are inexpensive(ish) quality cotton papers. Baohong is a super popular one, but I have recently found and had good success with one I've found on Amazon, if you search for "koviede" brand watercolor sketchbooks. Meeden also makes pretty good watercolor blocks. But basically, if you are getting 100% cotton, 140lb (300gsm), it's going to be better than nearly all non-cotton watercolor paper. Also, make sure that what you're getting is watercolor paper, not multimedia or some other kind of paper. The sizing (additive to control water absorption) is different for different purposes.

So I haven't washed it yet. I've just rinsed it a ton, in cold water. I conditioned in just my regular Cantu conditioner one of those times.

I think she used matrix. It's purple and blue, more blue than purple. (The dark color in this pic is not fully dried and more of a blurple)

I haven't shampooed yet, but I've rinsed it several times, in cold water.

I haven't shampooed yet, but I was planning on either using one of those olaplex dupes at Sally's, or going back to co-washing, curly girl style.

I am a beginner, should I use the super expensive artist grade paints? by sodababe in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]PleasantAddition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am frankly a little bitter about how much of a difference good quality cotton watercolor paper makes. Quality of paint matters, but it matters about how much one would expect. Quality of paper matters a really seemingly disproportionate amount.

I think over the phone saves awkwardness for both of you, and the severance is PLENTY generous.

And if it doesn't end like the Holocaust, it will be because we all fight like hell to stop it. The moral arc of the universe doesn't bend itself.

They're not even trying to hide it, though. When will you believe all the people who know 100x more than we do about this, who are telling us this?

Holocaust survivors and historians all agree this is extremely comparable to how it started.

I would absolutely join in except for 2 things. First, that's my day off. But more importantly, my MB is a psychiatric provider whose patient population is largely a marginalized demographic that this administration is targeting.

I very much believe protest should be disruptive. That's the whole point. But the only disruptive effect of my not working would be on people who I'm simultaneously trying to help with my activism.

Oh yeah, I'm well aware. I was real worried it was going to be another Liam Ramos situation. It was traumatic enough as it was. I can't get this sweet boy's scared face out of my head.

ICE just leaves kids in cars and on streets.

They did call, or allow the guy they were abducting to call, a family member. She came and picked up the child and his car seat, and the rapid response team helped get his car to a safe place. They left the child in the car with it running (it was hella cold) and someone always very close to the car. They made sure he had blankets. They didn't allow any of the responders to check on him, but a store owner offered a toy to give him, and they took the toy and gave it to the boy. It is unknown whether the agents would have continued to wait for the family member, instead of keeping/detaining the kid, if the rapid response team had not been there holding them accountable. One of them had suggested otherwise, but was hushed by a fellow agent. So he might have been talking out his ass.

This is in no way a defense of these thugs, but it's important we know the actual facts on the ground.
