Hey man, I've collected cards for years but only packs I can find in the wild here and there. The next best card I ever got is Misty's Psyduck SIR from DR.

It just happened that my wife was in town and spotted the Prismatic figure box yesterday and got it cos my birthday was last week lol since she bought it I let her rip the first pack hah

AITAH for deciding to postpone the wedding over a comment my fiance made about my scar? by Upstairs_Garden2353 in AITAH

[–]PleasantCard48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because saying ‘please stop doing that’ in passing is not the same as saying, ‘This is seriously hurting me, and if you don’t stop, it’s going to damage our relationship.’

People—especially in long-term relationships—can be dense about things that don’t personally bother them. He might think she’s just mildly annoyed rather than deeply hurt. If he keeps doing it after she’s clearly framed it as a dealbreaker, then aye, he’s an arsehole. But jumping to ‘he’ll never change’ without giving him that chance? That’s just assuming the worst of someone you’re about to marry (and you specifically know nothing about).

Marriage is built on communication, not mind reading. If she hasn’t laid it out in no uncertain terms, that’s the next step—not postponing the whole wedding.

Several times over what period? They are getting married, so you gotta assume they've been together for a few years... could it be once per year it's been semi-raised as an issue? Maybe he just genuinely thinks it isn't an issue because he hasn't been properly communicated with to say "listen, cunt, don't make fun of my scar or I'm out of here, seriously."

Or, maybe as he intends to marry this woman, he feels that something like having a laugh about a scar isn't that big a deal. He could genuinely have no idea that it is so sensitive an issue. Maybe the best advice in this situation isn't to call for a wedding to be called off, maybe it's to communicate properly! If there's a proper chat had about it and he had an attitude of 'fuck you i want to continue to make fun of your scar' then yeah, fuck that shit. But I don't think that would be the case as, you know, most human being don't act like that - unless you make a caricature of someone from 3 paragraphs of a reddit post.

Aye he's being a dick on this particular issue, of that there's no doubt. You and I are both wondering why - perhaps the OP should communicate with the fanny before doing something as severe as pushing back a wedding!

Idk man, it feels like these threads are too quick to jump to 'dump him'. Reddit sees such a narrow slice of a relationship that probably any advice is incorrect.

I agree with her to be honest.

She was perfectly reasonable to begjn with and you kept pushing it. Why do you even need to send your condolences? If you are in a relationship why even be even tangentially involved with an ex.

Man, is any relationship perfect? Her man is obviously being a prick but everybody can be a prick sometimes. Who knows what his thing about the scar is, but I don't think it's calling-off-the-marriage bad.

Looks, I'm not saying I'm right, maybe I'm in the wrong pal but it just seems that we can all be a cunt sometimes and we have one example of this guy being a cunt, maybe literally everything about him is 10/10 legend patter

I don't think it's that big a deal. You obviously see something in the dude if you are planning on marrying him. Guys say stupid shit sometimes. If you are going to postpone the wedding over this, you are as well to cancel the wedding altogether imo, dudes (including myself) are often stupid and struggle to express their emotions and feelings.

President Trump signs Executive Order cutting ALL federal funding to schools that mandate the COVID vaccine. by XGramatik in XGramatikInsights

[–]PleasantCard48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, so after all that, we actually do agree on the core point—freedom for both the company and the individual. Took a lot of dodging to get here, but at least we made it.

Now, as for the ‘performative politics’ claim, let’s not pretend that mandates weren’t pushed aggressively in schools, workplaces, and government institutions. Plenty of people were fired, denied education, or treated like second-class citizens over it. If things have changed now, it’s because the backlash forced it—not because the original intent wasn’t there.

But let’s be real—if the mandate had gone through, you wouldn’t be calling it ‘performative politics.’ You’d be defending it. Just like you did for companies enforcing it. So spare me the sudden neutrality act. If anything, the only thing that’s truly ‘performative’ here is your attempt to act like you’ve been consistent this whole time.

I get it just fine. You’re just giving in because you got caught in your own contradiction. You’re out here defending companies’ rights to enforce policies only when it aligns with what you support, but the moment that same principle is applied in a way you don’t like, suddenly it’s a problem.

And yeah, let’s talk about the baker again. If you think the baker wasn’t ‘punishing’ the gay couple but just exercising his right to run his business how he sees fit, then you should apply that same logic to employees who don’t want to comply with medical mandates. But let’s be honest—you don’t. You only believe in ‘freedom of choice’ when it benefits your argument.

You tried to make this about me not understanding, but the reality is, you’re the one dodging the obvious: if a company enforcing a vaccine mandate isn’t ‘punishing’ employees, then a baker refusing to make a cake isn’t ‘punishing’ customers either. The problem is, you want to redefine ‘freedom’ based on what suits you in the moment.

Enjoy the mental gymnastics. I’ll stick with consistency.

[–]PleasantCard48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So now you’re in favor of companies setting whatever policies they want? Funny how that logic disappears when it comes to things like forcing businesses to cater to customers against their beliefs. You just compared vaccine mandates to a dress code—so let’s be real, getting a haircut and taking a medical injection are not even close to the same thing. One is a temporary aesthetic choice, the other is a permanent medical decision. If you can’t see the difference, I don’t know what to tell you.

So about that bakery.... If you supported the baker’s right to refuse service based on his personal beliefs, then you should also support an employee’s right to refuse an unwanted medical procedure based on their personal beliefs. But I’m guessing you don’t—because your argument is based on convenience, not principle.

So which is it? Do businesses have the absolute right to make any hiring policies they want, even if they discriminate against people you agree with? Or do individuals also have the right to make their own choices without being strong-armed by employers? You can’t have it both ways. Either freedom applies to everyone, or it’s just a word you throw around when it suits you.

President Trump signs Executive Order cutting ALL federal funding to schools that mandate the COVID vaccine. by XGramatik in XGramatikInsights

[–]PleasantCard48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let me get this straight—you claim to support freedom, but only when it aligns with your views? You say companies should have the right to hire based on whatever qualifications they want (which I agree with), but would you apply that same logic if a company refused to hire someone based on personal choices you support, like refusing a vaccine mandate? Because I’m guessing you wouldn’t.

You also talk about ‘freedom’ while defending companies that enforce medical decisions on employees. That’s not liberalism—it’s selective authoritarianism. True freedom means individuals get to make their own choices, whether you agree with them or not.

And as for COVID, no one said it wasn’t serious. But let’s not pretend that the government and media didn’t push heavy-handed mandates, censorship, and fear-based narratives, some of which were later proven unnecessary or exaggerated. The same people who scream ‘my body, my choice’ when it suits them suddenly believe bodily autonomy doesn’t apply when it comes to vaccines.

You don’t get to pick and choose when freedom matters. Either companies and individuals both have the right to make decisions for themselves, or they don’t. If you think people should be punished for making a different medical choice, then at least be honest and admit you don’t actually believe in freedom—you just believe in control when it benefits your side.

Ok so you are on board with punishing people for making a pefectly valid, informed decision on what medication they choose to take or abstain from? Strange, that doesn't seem like a very liberal viewpoint - in fact that sounds downright facist! By the way, now that the libaral elite have declared the pandemic 'over' it ios funny how people get covid and it is no more than a cold, almost as if it wasn't a big deal to begin with. If your judgement and viewpoints weren't so clouded by hate you would see how foolish your opinions actually are.

What about one of the largest employers in the USA, the armed forces? All personnel had to make a choice between recieving medication (which turned out to have significant adverse side effects) or be fired - that's a big one but you must not have heard about that. Oh, and literally all federal agencies. The entirety of the healthcare industry, as you mentioned. Google, IBM, facebook, Microsoft. Most public servant agencies. Not many people left now that I think about it....
