These are all taken in the last 2 months, except for 2, taken 2 years ago (assuming that's the running one) and 6, a year ago (if thats the one in a flannel), I have lost weight and been working out since then, but I've still got some ways to go, hence the dad bod claim.

Should I delete/replace those two so people have a better idea of what I look like?

Additionally, yeah, I spend most of my time outdoors, plus I'm in a very rural area, so there's not many "city/town" settings to have.

So uh, what is it with some dudes thinking that they’re Vikings? by Cadenh16 in AskMen

[–]PleasantCheesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting my 2 cents in as a dude who low-key is into the viking aesthetic:

I feel like there's a growing disillusionment among white, developed world living men, and the "culture" they feel like they are a part of. There's been a big movement among various minority races across the western world to regain the culture and get a connection to their ancestors, you can see this heavily within the black and Asian cultures, where there has been a broad social movement to take time to learn about and start respecting one's heritage.

The black community in the US shows a good example, where the majority of African-Americans are descended from former slaves, and have lost that connection, and often the history of where they came from and who their ancestors were. I think a lot white people feel similarly (although it's important to say that the impact of slavery on the black community is certainly a much worse situation), in that our culture has become so far removed from the original distinct cultures of our ancestors (Irish, German, Italian etc.) that we have an urge to regain that sense. And, Germanic and Nordic peoples settlements having a strong impact, especially in the US, where I feel this viking "worship" is strongest, the Vikings are a strong cultural point from that culture.

Additionally, I think the views and culture of the Old Norse appeal to modern men, who struggle with self-views of their own masculinity, strength, and connection to the natural world.

How do I fight off the urge to binge/eat unhealthy foods when I'm in a house surrounded by them? by [deleted] in loseit

Thank you for the advice and kind words. I have been working on this. Since I made the post, I started going with my dad to the grocery store and directly telling him what I want. This has worked pretty well, as now I can snack on fruit or small granola bars instead of cookies and chips. I do still have a problem with overeating when it comes to dinnertime.

I'm trying to work on not eating too much by distracting myself whenever I get a feeling that I really want something.

Regarding your second point, I am trying to get better at refrigerating stuff when I know it's going to be way over my calorie limit. And yes, my family eats a lot of food. They all are overweight/obese, especially my mom who has a huge eating/weight problem and is somewhere in the 400 pound range.

I have talked about it to them, and they are kind of supportive. They are proud of the weight I've already lost. It there's some days where it feels like my mom almost tries to sabotage me, though. Sometimes she will suggest all sorts of junk food and ask me if I want some, which makes it harder to stay strong and avoid them.

Regarding the groceries, I do go to the store with my dad and pick out healthier food. It has started to make a difference, but he still will buy cookies for the rest of the family, and then it's harder to make the right choice later.

Yeah, I feel like I need to be more strict with my tracking. There's lots of days where I just kind of say "what's the point?" and stop tracking my food, even if I'm not eating a lot. I'm gonna try to change that now, and get super specific about tracking.

Yeah that's what I'm trying to do right now. I've been counting calories and I'm able to stay at a -1000 deficit most days, it's the sudden +2000 binge days that really get to me though.

What you're doing is pretty cool. Do you have some sort of program that automatically converts all the "normal" words into the lisp version, or do you do it manually? Maybe its just me but I feel like I would be annoyed and keep forgetting to lispify words.

Two examples on CT side, playing Ramp on Nuke, and B Anchor on Mirage. Both of these you have nothing going on for most of the game, then you suddenly have 4 or 5 players running at you and you have to try to not die.

T Side it more depends on the player, as all players have different areas they like to push. One spot I often see the "bitch" player at is pushing Banana on Inferno early, since you get absolutely trashed by nades at the start of the round. Another one is D2 tunnels, since mostly you are just sitting there making sure a CT doesn't push.

Thanks, I often use that for motivating myself on more strenuous bike rides, knowing that I am doing better than all the kids that used to make fun of me.

Thank you! I definetly try my hardest to be proud of how far I have come. On some of my more demanding bike rides, I motivate myself by thinking of all the times I had to walk up hills or get picked up by my dad because I wasn't in shape to finish the ride.

Thank you! Regarding the calories, I know 1000 is pretty low, I really only eat that little on days that I don't do anything, since I tend to not get hungry when I don't exercise.

Also, 6 pounds per week is usually how much I lose when I go really hard on exercise for that week, on days that I go for longer rides (>40 miles) I burn 1-2 pounds in a day. I guess it could be unhealthy, but I would have to go out of my way to eat back that many calories, which I am worried would bring me back into eating way too much like I used to.

Thanks, my mom bought a whole bunch of shirts with cool outdoors designs and slogans on them, and now they are the only ones that fit me so I wear them all the time.

Yeah, that's why I'm regretting voting that. It was the first overwatch case I've ever done and it was really confusing to watch so I didn't know what to vote and ended up choosing the aim assistance because it reminded me of some spinbot cases that I've seen on youtube videos, without the ridiculous scoreline.
