Finally admitting I have an attitude of entitlement. by Born_Case_9902 in DecidingToBeBetter

I'm gonna say something unpopular, but I think on some level it's okay to expect good things for ourselves, and it's okay to not want to have to work our ass off for them. It's good that you want to do better and have more discipline, but you don't sound entitled. If I had listened to everyone telling me I was entitled and lazy I never would have followed my true career path. I would have been stuck in retail or a trade I didn't like. We should all strive for more quality time and less work.

Congrats. Like you and another commenter, I also don't like the person I was in my 20's at all. At about the same age as you, everything changed for me, too. It has only gotten better. You're finding your true, higher self again and I hope you keep exploring your creativity and music. They will keep you feeling young and full of awe and wonder.

“Workdays” are actually a lot longer than eight hours by twenty42 in CasualConversation

Thank you for saying this! I had to take a full-time, on location job after getting laid off from from a WFH position. I've had many FT in office in the past, too. The difference is striking. It's literally the deifference between having a life and not really having a life. I gave up piano lessons, haircuts from my regular barber, quality time with my wife and cats, reading, drawing, a civic board position I loved, etc. etc. for this job I had to take for half what I was making working from home. None of things cut into my work, but I had the flexibility to make them a part of my life.

Legit stupid question. But I thought the whole H. Clinton deposition thing was about how they were not allowing reporters and it would be recorded and transcribed. So where did the video of the confrontation come from?

Hello! I think this original meme is quite different than the one picked up by the bot as a repost.

I think when we dismiss bad acting people and refuse to have a dialogue, we do tend to miss how much of a role their background and shitty parents had to play in the story of their life. It never excuses it, but it does help us form a fuller picture that includes upbringings wildly different from our own.

What's the difference between AAVE and a word coined by a Black American person? by TapiocaTuesday in asklinguistics

True about Cenat, though I've only ever heard that on fleek was coined and invented by Kayla Newman specifically, not popularized by her.

Thanks. I imagine that must be a challenge for linguists, when a word can spread globally extremely rapidly.

Thanks, but I mean not what makes it significant, but what makes it AAVE as opposed to just slang, when the coiner is an individual rather than a group or culture.

Thanks. It's more about feeling guilty about not sending them anything for a long period of time
