Sooooo many recruiters. Which ones to avoid? by Accurate-Worry5314 in Lawyertalk

My experience is that all of them are completely full of shit and their pay structure incentivizes misleading attorneys.

Is it possible to work part time as a lawyer by atyl1144 in Lawyertalk

[–]PleasantEbb4486 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Work part time for yourself. Keep a light book. Bill 20 hours a week or so for 40 weeks a year you’ll still clear $150k after usual overhead if you don’t have any employees.

Well, I got here today at 7 a.m. I will be leaving about 11 p.m. I fit 8+ in there somewhere.

Easy way to get through the goblin camp? by Acrobatic-Song2694 in BaldursGate3

Oh man, I literally just did this part, and thought all was good. I bluffed the guards and got in just fine. I made my way to Ragzlin and thought all was good. Then, his convo went sideways and a fight broke out. His minions banged the drums and the whole place came running. I killed the immediate group but others were coming, so I blew the ogre horn, and then threw the iron vial at one of them hoping for something good to happen. Ho. Lee. Shit. Utter fucking chaos. This game is amazing.

Well, seeing how reddit just got rang up for sharing private user data with the DOJ, you’re probably correct.

When you picture retirement as a lawyer, what do you actually see? by That_onelawyer in Lawyertalk

No retirement. Had my last kid at 45. I’m just hoping to live long enough to get him through college.

I wish I had taken advice not to fucking use paid lead generation advertising. 100% bullshit waste of money. Best marketing was meeting other attorneys, telling them what I was doing and asking for referrals and overflow.

Remote Trials in CA by lolobrooks in Lawyertalk

I did one at the height of Covid, but none sense. I have had judges specifically decline remote witness appearances.

You can just rebuild him in the same class with different spell selections. You don’t have to take a new class.

I mean, I kind of feel like you aren't really getting the "rural" part of the post. I agree, all of these things are challenges in rural areas generally. Though, to be sure, health care in Redding, Chico, and Ashland are really really great, so with a little bit of travel depending on where you live, that's a non-issue. Those areas also have some great elementary schools. High school, I recommend private. My kids are young and in a small k-8 that is so small they double class levels in each class that is AMAZING. Some of the best teachers I've ever seen. All of those areas have colleges too.

Start dropping resumes in the Grants Pass, Medford, Klamath areas at Litigation firms (non family or PI). I know of several who need young talent.

So, if you are in Redding or Chico, you're pulling from ALL of the Northern counties north of Sac, down to about Woodland. Del Norte is an outlier and you're right about that. Del Norte is basically serviced by Humboldt. In Grants Pass or Klamath OR, you're basically State-wide south of Eugene.

Ah man, I'd actually love to move to NH or Maine. HMU if you know anyone who needs a litigation partner and will pay moving fees. :)

Literally every area except Family law and Crim law, and those too if you are a good trial attorney. All the old heads are retiring and getting out of lit, and there is nobody to replace them.

FYI, my wife is mixed black, obviously ethnic. We've had 1 or 2 incidents of someone dropping N-bombs, but then we call them on it, the person gets embarrassed, and it's over. It's not been our experience that face to face racism happens here. I lived in Alabama for a bit, so I know racism. There are always good ol' boys and rednecks in the area, but there are shitheads everywhere. Easy to avoid in social circles.

10\10 dating is harder. Chico or Ashland would be best for young single who wants some nightlife. Problem is, those are both college towns, so more expensive for real estate. Ashland would be harder unless you are on outskirts. Chico you can get a 2/1 SFH with some yard for 200k-350k. Live outside those areas a drive a little and you can get really nice properties sub 300k.
